Positivity in my adrenaline

You know something. I don't think I have ever felt so happy and positive now since I was like 14/15. I am ever so grateful for finding this website because If i didn't I think I would still be weeping feeling sorry for myself, not to say you can't do that but there is no need to.

Once I started to see inspiring comments on here and people taking the the time to read what I had to say it made me realise that I have absolutely nothing to worry about and having herpes will only become a big deal if you make it a big deal. Tbh overtime I have learnt to take the time out to go and ask questions about my rare skin condition, to find out the answers to my questions and the nitty gritty and the silly misconceptions mostly of oral herpes, because I have seem to find that not alot of people have come across the herpes type 2 as of they do type , but that doesn't mean to say their is no stigma behind it.

I can tell you the answer as to why people are devastated when they have been diagnosed with herpes. Its because the stigma behind it is so stupid, you know you hear things like her or she sucks this, she/he is a whore or he/she is dirty. STOP RIGHT THERE it does not make you dirty because you have herpes what it does mean is that you are an ordinary person who had sex with another ordinary person and unfortunatly there was a little STI hiding behind the having sex and you didn't know that and thats OK. Its part of reality and life is about going through pain, coming out stronger and better and then being happy.

I mean as a young adult I don't know if you would see those certain kids in your college laughing at unserious STI'S you could get and the herpes one seemed to be so funny to them, funny thing what you don't know about them is the ones laughing at herpes are covering up their own insecurities because they probably caught something worse, but because its them its OK. I believe people like that are people you should stay away from and they are not people you call friends or even want to associate yourself with. They would make you feel terrible and make you join in with the stigma.

I believe once your diagnosed with HSV-1 OR HSV-2 that is a time to sit down cry, laugh and think of the memories before you had this and think to yourself now that I have herpes what will change for me? You know what will change, NOTHING if you have the belief, positivity and love yourself your in for a treat because soon Herpes will be a thing of the past for you and you can live your life being happy. One thing I say. DON'T OVERTHINK AND DON'T KEEP PLANNING YOUR DAYS AHEAD. TAKE LIFE AS IT COMES. When you take life as it comes unexpected things happen that will turn your frown upside down.

TBH the whole issue with herpes is trying to get yourself back to normal. You will not be the same person you was before. You will be even better and that to me is all I can ask for and you know something I feel so positive and happy its ridiculous.

Accept it and please be happy. This is just the starting of something new. Accept it and enjoy it.

Thanks.

Beautiful Butterfly.

Thank you.

"You will not be the same person you was before. You will be even better and that to me is all I can ask for and you know something I feel so positive and happy its ridiculous. "

I've grown a lot as a person since having herpes.

and I'm happy to hear that your so happy.

Herpes doesn't have the power to make us unhappy. Only we have that power.

And I know that I'd so much rather be happy and forgiving, so that's the gift I give myself :)

Love your post butterfly...thank you so much :-) I won't rewrite your quote again but I loved it too, I'm glad Cedar highlighted it. I've grown a lot too and I think its important we post the good stuff about having H.

Totally agree Janice. There's nothing wrong with herpes, the name is just not nice for the rare skin condition, it does sound horrible but as people who have it we know that isn't the case.

Vanessa :)
