Hello depressed

Recommended Posts

I am glad to have found this forum. I received my positive blood work less than a week ago. I am a single 28 year old teacher. Going back to work has been especially difficult I find myself on the verge of tears everyday. I feel ashamed, and dirty. I know things could be worse since I am lucky to have never had an "outbreak". Not sure who to turn to, I am a very private person and I have not discussed this with anyone. :(

Well I went for what I thought was routine testing at planned parenthood and they asked me if I wanted to test for herpes and syphillis. I wish I would of said no. They don't give exact values if it's over a 5 and both my hsv1 and hsv 2 were over a 5 on the igg test. Does this mean I've had this for a while? Thanks for responding.

You need to find out if it was a combined test, because it sounds like it very well could have been and if you have oral herpes, it will cross react w a combined test and give a false positive on on the HSV 2. If the values are the same, it's even more suspect. I highly recommend going back and ie calling to find out what kind of test and going back just to be tested for HSV 2 only. I honestly if you've never had symptoms, question the validity of the test results.

When I got cultured a week after transmission and bmokd work done, my culture came back positive, which I knew I had it before seeing the doctor and blood work was negative. New infection. I took all blood work 3 months later again to be on the safe sideside regarding other STDs and that time mymy HSV 2 came back positive. She read it to me over the phone like she was delivering bad news and I said oh, I already know I have that. Just glad everything else was clean. Being diagnosed once is no different than being diagnosed a second time positive. It's better to be diagnosed twice, than not and walk around fiever thinking you have something you may not have.

So you've never had any symptoms?

Well.... Now that you said that, sounds like it is very plausible. Just call and ask them if it was a combined test. If it wasn't, then fkr sure, but based in your symptoms and teat results, I think it's likely. I've seen other's on forums have no symptoms and be shocked if the results. Then as they chat w me and I discuss my symptoms I had and explain neuropathy, muscle aches and paresthesia, then they start putting two and two together. You've likely had it some time to be over 5, not a new infection.

I definitely started noticing it more now that I aware of what's going on. I feel like the itchiness and raw feeling is constantly there. Not sure if that makes any sense. I have a phone consultation with Terri Warren next week hopefully she can give me medical advice as far as medication goes.
