When does the itching stop!!!!

River

Recommended Posts

I was diagnosed with Herpes on September 1st after going into the doctor for what I thought was a vaginal tear. My doctor put me on Acyclovir 400mg three times a day for 10 days. My initial outbreak was the worse!! But I was finally able to deal with it. I decided to take a daily suppressive and started it on Saturday but it literally wasn't until yesterday that my body has this really intense itching sensation that is soooooooo annoying. Like I feel like my vagina and ass is going to fall off!! A bit extreme but it's a fact. Like I'm being woken up with this during the middle of the night. I've taken Benadryl and rubbed Hydrocortisone on my butt to get some type of relief but nothing is working. Is this shedding?! Can shedding happen right after an outbreak?! Being all new to this I feel like I don't have control of my body anymore. Is there anything to stop this?! Will this itching ever go away?! All responses are greatly appreciated you all are great on here.

Hello and Welcome!

So - how were you diagnosed??? Swab? Blood Test. Or Visual? If it was visual, you can't go on that as a diagnosis.

Sounds more like a yeast infection.... (BTW, Hydrocortisone and Benadryl are for allergic reactions so they won't help Herpes OR yeast infections).

If you were not swabbed, I suggest you get in for a swab ASAP. And if you are going to a GP/PCP, get to an OBGYN for your next exam .... Family Doctors are usually terribly behind the times when it comes to the latest info on Herpes. If you can't get into an OBGYN, try Planned Parenthood ... you need to get to an office where the Doctors deal with this kind of thing every day ;)

The links below should help you but get in for the swab first if you haven't had one before you try them because you need to get that done before you get the body to clear up the external issues. And make sure that you get tested for Type as well ... it helps to know if it's H1 or H2 when it comes to disclosure ...

I was swabbed. You have been so helpful with just reading your replies to other people's questions when I was having my outbreak or I guess I still am having my outbreak I did just about everything you suggested from the Epsom Salt baths, the Bactine spray, and vaseline. No if I could just get over this annoying itching sensation that would be AMAZING!!!
