Weird side effects from medication

I've been on valcyclovir for over a month now and am dealing with some strange neurological side effects, including intense confusion. Is this common? Has anyone else dealt with this before? Should I notify my Dr and get off the medication?

 

I am a symptomatic HSV2 and take the medication to protect any partner I may be with. If someone has had this happen, how did you handle it? It's a little concerning.

In my opinion, it's always worth it to note unusual side effects to your doctor.

 

Have you tried another antiviral like acyclovir? I didn't have the side effects you describe, but when I was on Valtrex I still had mild OBs every month and frequent tingling. On acyclovir, I have none of that.
