Painful sex after primary outbreak persists

Recommended Posts

I contracted GHSV1 over 6 months ago, typical horrendous primary outbreak. After everything healed I've been experiencing painful sex. My GP and a gyno I saw were no help. I'm seeing my doctor again this week to discuss (and get a referral to a therapist), and I'm seeing a gynecologist in September who specializes in pain issues.

During sex my vagina almost always tears at the entrance now. It hurts when my partner first penetrates me, and can sometimes last the entire time we have sex. Afterwards, My vagina burns for hours or up to a day. We have tried lubes, different positions, making me orgasm before penetration, abstaining from sex for 2 weeks. I've even got medical grade cannabis oil that I apply to my vagina before sex and after to try to minimize the pain and swelling.

Has anyone else gone through a similar problem? I haven't been able to find much online that discusses this. My inability to have sex normally has taken a toll on my sexual and mental health, hence the referral to a therapist. I can't continue to live with this pain, and I am not interested in living a celibate life. We recently found out my partner also has GHSV2, so chances are I either have or will contract both strains of herpes on my genitals. I need to take control of this problem before herpes ruins my life more. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
