Herpes disclosure by text

Hey guys,

So I know this isn't always the best method, but I disclosed to someone via text today! I had already been intimate with this person and did not tell him. I know it was a bad move, but I didn't have any support at that time, was in denial, and didn't know that it was even possible to share this information. Anyway, he texted me saying he was going to be in town again and if I wanted to see him. I texted back and told him I had something important to tell him. Anyway, I did tell him I was positive. He thanked me for telling him, I told him I was depressed and scared that no one would ever love me again. But he told me he would still meet up with me!

 

I am so happy and feel so incredibly free that I told someone! I've NEVER told anyone before, this is my first one! I decided to tell him right now because I didn't know if I would be able to handle it in person. Thank you so much (H)Forum for getting me to this point--I would have never been able to do it without you and the positive views on this forum. Wow, I can't even believe I did it! I need to remember that herpes does not define me, it's only a skin condition, and if someone doesn't want to see me because of it, that's okay. It doesn't affect my own worth and view of myself. I am still worth all I was without ever having herpes.

effemmell that is great! Sometimes text can be easier. That means you do not have to see them face-to-face but it still get the message across. Good for you. I know I am very proud of you. Very brave.
