How soon can I get tested for oral herpes?

I want to get tested but it's only been 4 days since my possible infection. Would it just be a waste of time and money to go now? If so, then when should I go and get checked out?

12 weeks is the time it takes for antibodies to develop to detectable levels (for blood tests), but if you have what you think is an outbreak before then, go in to get it swab tested.
