How long does the first OB last and options to ease the pain and discomfort

2nd day for my daughter since we found out she's HSV2 positive and 1 week with symptoms. Any advice on what she can do to relieve the pain, she's having a hard time walking and she said it hurts so bad. Someone told me to give her L-Lysine. She has 3 more days on valtrex and the doctor said to wait to see if she has another outbreak. Any advice on pain relief, duration anything would be helpful. I want to help her as much as I can. Thank you in advance
