How likely is it to get herpes while the skin on the lip is red, before the initial legion appears? Does herpes have a 100% infection rate? I am aware that the likely hood is very high when the legions burst, and the liquid is out. But what about before the sore even appears? I know there is a possibility, but is it a high one? Could it also be possible for someone to have direct contact with a sore, and not get herpes?
