How long does it take for Valtrex to take effect for the purpose of transmission?

Hi,

 

I originally took Valtrex in the beginning when I was diagnosed, mostly because I thought I would need to. I did not take them for about 2 months because I didn't see the point (I don't have outbreaks and I wasn't being intimate). I now have a non-hsv2 partner and have begun taking valtrex again. How long should we wait to be intimate? Is there a time period we should wait where the drug will be more effective with transmission? Been on it for about 6 days now.
