Herpes Sex Life - will it ever be normal?

Hi all

 

I was diagnosed with herpes about 2 months ago. After getting over a horrific first outbreak I’m eager to get back to normal and not let this get me down. My boyfriend is super undertandong and has been supportive the whole way through. It’s been a while (2-3weeks) since all my sores/blisters healed, and although I still get a little pain down there (I think it’s nerve pain?) all other symptoms are gone and I’m feeling much better.

 

However, we’ve tried to had sex a few times and it’s causing me pain. When he first goes in it’s really painful, and although this goes away it’s still sore during sex - this is all while using lube. Has anyone else experienced this? Or got any advice? I jus want to get back to normal and feel loved and wanted (sexually) again.

I asked my doctor about sex and she says if you have lesions in your vagina those can take weeks, if not months to heal. They might not be healed yet.
