HSV-1 or HSV-2

Recommended Posts

I need some advice on the difference between hsv1 and hsv2. I know all the info says hsv1 is only oral. Recently I had 2 outbreaks. One in the genital area and another on my lower back. The one on my back is nothing like the other one. I thought a bug bit me at first, it was red and itching. Then it started to form the bump like blisters, but it is very dry and my skin is pealing. I don't mean to go into great detail, but one doctor told me it was hsv2, and another said it was just a rash. I'm confused. It hurts bad and my lymph nodes are swollen. I don't know what to do. Please help.

The only way to know for sure is to get that "rash" cultured and tested. It could be a rash, or it could be herpes (either HSV-1 or HSV-2). No doctor should diagnose you definitively on sight alone if you want a definitive answer.
