Herpes and pregnancy

Recommended Posts

Hi

Been with my partner for seven years now, have known about my h+ status almost 10 years I already have a son,  my partner would like children with me but I am hesitant as I feel my h+ status is taking a toll on my body and I will not be able to carry anymore children to full term or prevent theme from catching the virus

How has the experiences been having herpes and being pregnant?

Hi @Yearsgoing1! Generally most women have no complications around herpes and pregnancy. How has your herpes status taken a toll on your body specifically that would have you worrying about not being able to go full term? And about the fear of them catching herpes, you can start taking medications around the 8th month of pregnancy to minimize viral shedding and possible outbreaks. As long as you're not having an active outbreak when you give birth, the chances of passing herpes to your newborn would be very small. (And if you have a C-section, there's no risk at all.)
