I wish I knew! I take daily antivirals as well.🤷🏽‍♀️ I have seen that people take lysine, vitamin c, vitamin d, zinc, red marine algae, lemon balm, oregano, probiotics ....seems like a whole bunch of supplements to me. Not sure what combination actually does the trick.

I have everything you mentioned above plus my antivirus and I really can't even say what combination works all I can say is I haven't had a outbreak since my initial one in August usually I take the antivirus daily,  one vitamin C, magnesium for the itching,  and oil of oregano, vitamin B complex, and my probiotics.

I've been talking to one of my girlfriends she has hsv-2 diagnosed 13 years ago when she was 18 she doesn't take anything daily she only takes her antivirals when she has an outbreak and she has no issues she has an outbreak maybe once or twice a year and that's it so I think it's just different for different people.

I was wondering if anyone wouldn’t mind sharing what/how they treat and prevent their OBs. I’m super new and don’t want to rely on daily antivirals, so was hoping a few of you all may have natural remedies you use.

I’ve only had the one outbreak this past October. Only used anti virals during my initial outbreak. Only thing I’ve been taking sense then is a multi vitamin and emergency. Not sure if that has helped any being Genital HSV1 doesn’t reactivate often or non at all after the first outbreak according to some stats I’ve read.

I've also been scared to get sugared ever since my diagnosis and August because it typically does mess with my nerves (its a lil painful) and I can see myself getting a little overwhelmed so since I saw so many people posting that it could be a trigger ( dont wanba chance it) I just went ahead and bought me a set of Clippers and I've just just cutting it low until maybe I'm about six months in and then I'll revisit the thought of maybe trying sugering again but for now these Clippers are going to have to do the job🤷🏽‍♀️.

I may have to just do the same. The more I think about it the more anxiety it gives me, and that is definitely the last thing I need.

Do you feel like the magnesium helps? Do you have hsv1 or 2? I can't seem to get the tingling feeling around my mouth to stop. It is driving me crazy.

I was taking emergency but I'm kind of iffy on whether or not it really provides vitamin c😂

I have hsv-2 and I only had a genital outbreak but I assume that I have it oral as well because I have all the symptoms just no sores or blisters inside or around the mouth but I have tingling,  burning, itching, ringing ears, and to be honest although I had the genital outbreak in August I didn't start having oral symptoms until early November and it's been ongoing ever since. The first few weeks in November the burning was driving me crazy I didn't know what to do😞 I was putting aloe vera gel around my face to calm the stinging down because it has the lidocaine in it so that helped…  but over the past few weeks the oral symptoms have not been as bad but linger 😔 this virus is so unpredictable.  Try lemon balm salve or the lip bomb when I use it I get some oral relief also. @Whymewhynow what was your IGG hsv2 score from your blood test where the number high?  Maybe its oral 2 it seems to act differently as far as the lingering symptoms.

I've been walking a lot because I'm out of town and I felt my skin getting irritated so I bought some coconut oil and man did it work! Idk if I was having an OB, but it definitely soothed the irritation/chaffy feeling I had. Idk if Valtrex actually worked for me at all...or if I was even having another OB after my initial; I just took them because I was headed out of town and I didn't want to be here without them. I actually just took my last pill, so for now I am going to keep a close eye on my body and hopefully not do anything triggering. I feel much better now that I have the coconut oil. I also have some lysine supplements and vitamin c. Hoping to make it through month 2 with no OBs.

Thanks @Concerned1977 I will try lemon balm salve. I do have the lip balm and it helps the symptoms on my lips but then it feels like it jumps to the skin around my mouth. I went to the dermatologist and that was kind of a waste of time because they can't seem to help unless you have an actual active OB happening😥. My hsv 1 is 21 and my hsv2 is 6.5. However, I've read that the numbers don't mean anything, which I find hard to believe but okay. I just assumed it was oral 1 and genital 2, but honestly I've never had an OB swabbed. I had a fully active cold sore on my lip in September which is what led me to get tested in the first place only to find out I also have 2 (lucky me). I've had some discomfort below in the past but, nothing major or that stood out. I think I may have been diagnosing myself and I'd been misdiagnosed with yeast infections...or maybe it was just all happening at the same time. I just don't even know😩

Good to note @SeraLyn !

@angryandoverit I hear you. I’ve been able to keep positive through most of this, but lately I have been feeling a bit down just because I’m traveling and my body is stressed and I’ve had to think about it in ways I’ve never had to. I’ve been going through a lot of other things lately but it’s so wonderful to have this group of people who can relate on a medical and sometimes even emotional level of what I’m going through. Definitely sending comforting vibes your way.

I'm glad I found this forum. I'm a black woman and got diagnosed when I was younger.  My initial OB was very mild, to the point where the dr thought I was lying about not having a worse OB previously! I had about 3 or 4 OBs after being diagnosed and then it completely disappeared. So for 9 years I had no OB or prodomes. Then I became pregnant and got one sore 2 weeks before my due date!  I was freaking out. My dr put me on acyclovir for 2 weeks and it healed up nicely and I was able to have a natural birth with no issues. My child was born healthy. 🙂

My situation atm is not so rosy however. A few years ago I had an operation I have been having OBs every other month. I've had 2 rounds of antivirals and on both occasions I've got an OB directly after stopping. My dr said if I get another one he'll refer me to a specialist. Ideally I would love if I could go back to the days when I had no OBs!!

I'm trying to make changes to reduce the OBs, I've started taking lysine and stopped snacking on nuts. I put on baby weight over so I'm working on losing that. I also have a pretty stressful job so I'm moving jobs soob. Hopefully that will help. I'm dealing with ongoing pain on the left side of my body, and everyday I wake up it's there and I feel disheartened. I try and remember that it could be much worse and that I have a lovely healthy child when things could have been so different.

Hi @AMDCRX welcome! First, thank you for sharing your story. I’m so happy to hear that you were able to have a healthy beautiful baby 💕. I’m also happy to hear you were able to go so long without many outbreaks (oh how a girl can dream lol).

I’m sorry to hear how hard these last few years have been for you, but it sounds like you’re being proactive toward finding healing methods and that’s awesome.

I am very new to the virus, this will be my 3rd month since my diagnosis. I was out of town for 4 weeks and started having my second OB, but when it healed up a couple more came and I was freaking out because I didn’t have any medicine. What worked for me (creating faster healing, stopping the pain in my leg) was taking 1g of lysine 3x a day and drinking acv tea (hot water, 2-3tbs of apple cider vinegar, squeeze of honey and lemon juice) 3x a day, and cooking food in coconut oil (since I’m not ready to just injest the oil yet). After 2 days of doing this I noticed a huge difference and haven’t had an OB since. I’m thinking this plus my acyclovir prescription will really help me fight any upcoming OBs I feel coming.

Hopefully this was helpful, I don’t want to take meds forever so I’ve been trying to find natural remedies, my concoction above has seemed to help so far.

Peace & blessings 💕
