Don't settle with a simple test.

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

This is my story: the new girl that I started dating asked me to have all STD tests so we can be intimate. I went to a clinic and they did every tests(everything was negative) except HVS1/2. They didn't do HSV1/2  because they didn't believe in it and CDC suggests not to doing it unless there is a symptom which I didn't have any.

My new GF insisted to take it so I visiteda doctor office and asked her to do the test. The test result came positive after 2 days and my ordeal started. It was very difficult and I stared getting depressed.  I studied about HSV for a week and  I found out that I could do a supplementary test to confirm the result. So I went to an infection specialist. He told me that there was a big discrepancy between my HSV 1 number( 3.8) and HSV2(1.5) so it could be the indication that the test got confused (because those basic tests are not very accurate).  Any how I did the supplementary test at the LabCorp and my HSV 2 results came negative. I got relieved and I am suggesting all of you who has gone through this ordeal take that supplementary test. Please don't get discouraged. There are some hopes there.

I’m glad you retested with the SUPPLEMENTAL TEST. I too was tested, numbers were 1.52 for hsv2. The supplemental test results a week later were NEGATIVE. I feel a little relieved.

You are not alone in your Labcorp positive igg test and negative supplemental follow up test. I’m not sure why the lab didn’t just do a confirmation test?
