Bad doctor experience?

Hello!

I recently went to the doctor for a herpes testing appointment but when I arrived, the nurse practitioner told me I don't need to get tested because she was sure I had herpes based on my symptoms. I told her that I have had blisters on my mouth a few times when I got tired and they eventually went away each time. She went on to say herpes is cold sores and I should not think of them as two separate things. I ended up not getting tested or getting any medication because she said medication is only for when I have an outbreak. Is this common?

That is bullshit. Get an IGG blood test. Getting diagnosed from symptoms alone is very 80's.

That's crazy. Doctors or nurse practitioners should always test to make sure their diagnosis is accurate. I'd get a blood test (specifically IGG) and have them swab the blister next time one appears.
