First OB, what's normal?

I think i'm at the tail end of my first outbreak. All my sores seem to be gone, at least that I can see. There was at least one I couldn't see but I don't have pain there anymore so i'm assuming it's gone. I'm starting to feel better but there's still these weird kind of phantom pains if I sit down hard or with other types of movements. The pain isn't bad, it almost feels like...a little pinch. Is this normal?

How long does it take for an outbreak to completely heal?

I know it's different for everyone i'm just trying to figure out if i'm doing something wrong or need to go back to the dr.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Heya,

That's nerve pain! The virus gets nice and comfy in the base of your spine where the nerves for your lower back and legs etc are.

My first year I had no sores but nerve pain in my back, buttocks, thighs and outside edges of my feet.

I've since only had one outbreak and that has lasted 4 weeks. You're right though we're all different.

I'm 11 years in.

Oh, that actually makes sense when I think of some other things. A couple nights I've had a weird pain in my hip/buttock and I put heat on it but it didn't really help and I can feel some pain around the base of my spine, honestly after how I felt the first week I don't know if I'd even call it pain, it's discomfort...

Only one outbreak? Can I ask, do you take suppressives?

I've always had a hard time with situations that are out of my control, so the hardest part of this for me has been knowing what to expect.

I don't take suppressives or alter my diet. I'm just lucky I think.

I already led a generally healthy lifestyle, and make sure I keep my stress down and get lots of rest.

It is one of the difficult things, not knowing what's coming. I've just recently had that outbreak and had no idea what was going on for the first week. I did have the nerve pain but I also get sciatica so I was a bit confused lol.

I have educated myself quite well on herpes so I know the ins and outs pretty well.

Also, just remember, you can't control when you're going to catch a cold, and you can't walk around worrying about that all the time so try not to worry too much about this either (I know, easier said than done I guess) xx.

Has the nerve pain gone away? I am currently 10 weeks post exposure and the nerve pain is the biggest problem. The only “sores” I have are pink spots near my bikini line,  am assuming it’s from herpes though they do not hurt, are not elevated or ulcer. (I have GHSV1 and feel like nerve pain may be more common in this strain?)
