Hsv1 values going up?

Recommended Posts

So. Long story, kind of.

When I was 19, I was told I had hsv1, but never had any outbreaks, so I never knew what it meant or where it could be.

Mad the years have gone by, I can think of two times, in the past two years, where what I thought was a zit on my lip, was probably a cold sore... they sucked and would last about a week. Weren’t too painful, but definitely not pretty.

My question is this. I was diagnosed at 19, but when I had labs ran last year in July, it all came back negative, both 1 and 2. This year, I got tested in September, and it was positive for hsv1 at 3.2 value. And I just got tested yesterday, and now it’s at 7.8. I don’t know what the value was when I was 19... but why would it be negative last year, positive this year, and climbing in value in two months? Was the diagnosis at 19 maybe false and I never had it, until recently? Could the values be climbing right now from high stress? Do the values go up and down?? Does this mean I could have an OB? And does the mild sore I explained on my lip sound like it was an OB?

When the virus is dormant the levels could come up as negative/really low. But if it becomes active and multiplies the levels are going to be higher. Next time you have a sore on your lip go to the doctor immediately and get it looked at and tested!!! Higher levels could mean its active so you may.. try to remain relaxed and don’t drink! Don’t do anything that could lower your immune system!

So can the levels go back down if I’m calm??

Update: they’re going up, a little, but most likely because I’ve been SUPER stressed ever since my possible hsv2 exposure two months ago. As far as being told last year I was hsv1 negative, and wondering how that happened, they updated my patient portal wrong. I did have it, so it makes me feel better it’s not a new exposure, and the same exposure I’ve had since I was 19, which I’ve thankfully only had two outbreaks on my lip from, neither of which I realized were even outbreaks until I thought about it, looking back.
