How authentic is PCR blood test?

Since I got exposed to thesetwo weeks back my doctor had suggested to go for pcr blood test to identify if I have hsv 1 or 2. My hsv igm came as 3.5 and igg 0.5. 

I got my report today which says negative for both hsv1 and 2. How authentic is pcr blood test? I dont have any lesion which can be tested. Also I am from India so can't go for WB test. Any feedback on pcr blood test will be helpful.

well I heard it's accurate. but it has it's problems. I also seen people say ignore the igm there not that accurate.but I'm no doctor.i hope this helps Sarah

Well I wish it was true. As per Terri Warren pcr blood test should not be done to detect hsv due to std. Hsv is a virus that stays in skin and nerves and not in blood. Only way to confirm is to go for a WB test or wait for 4 months or so for igg antibodies.

I would wait 4 months and see if I you are still negative.surely two test would show your actually Negative. I don't know about the Pcr test.i hope things work for you and you get piece of mind to these questions.take care Sarah
