Difference between HSV- and HSV-2

Recommended Posts

I was diagnosed last week. I was feeling pain with urinating and I felt sore as if I just had really dry sex so I went to the doctor and she said it was herpes. I did a blood test and it came back positive for HSV-1. What is the difference between that and HSV-2? What should I know? Thank you everyone.

with hsv1 you only have one or two break out a year where as with hsv2 you have more breakouts. but with your periods you tend to swell up that's about it. I can't tell you about hsv2 I don't have that.  I hope this helps Sarah.

Thank you, Sarah.

I have HSV1 as well and I’ve been having a lot of outbreaks. I get really irritated right before my period and the irritation does not go away until I take meds.  I recently changed my diet (low sodium) a lot will test bieng off meds to see how I do.
