Doctor told me HSV 1 cannot occur on genitals

Recommended Posts

The title says it all. I was swabbed for HSV 2 only on my genitals because the doctor told me it's not possible  to have HSV 1show up on the genitals.

My swab came back negative, but the doctor only tested for HSV 2.

Is it possible I could have still have HSV 1, but not know it thanks to the doctor only swabbing for HSV 2?

Your doc is not up to date

50 percent of new genital herpes cases are caused by Hsv1

I’m a male and I contracted genital Hsv1 in January of this year through receiving oral sex from a female who has oral Hsv1 (cold sores)

ive done endless reading on this after my diagnosis and from what I gathered genital Hsv1 is mainly transmitted through oral sex (from someone’s mouth to someone’s genitals). Genital to genital is rare from what I’ve read. Also once you have genital Hsv1 you can pass it to a negative persons mouth if they give you oral sex but again mainly transmitted by someone having oral Hsv1 and they give you oral sex is the main way it transferred to the genitals

ive also read that ghsv1 doesn’t prefer the genitals and recurrences can be rare and are rated at about .7 recurring outbreaks a year so about 1 outbreak every other year. Unfortunately I’m finding this untrue with myself as I’m having a massive recurring outbreak right now, only three months after I contracted it. I’m hoping this is because my body hasn’t built the antibodies to fight it but I feel like it should have by now as I don’t think I’m immunodeficient. I also read that recurring outbreaks will be much more mild and of less duration but again not true in my case  right now as this recurring outbreak might even be worse than my horrific primary outbreak with the exception of the painful urination this time.

Im not in daily antivirals and my doc said it wouldn’t be needed but maybe time to reconsider?

What even makes you think you have herpes?

What are your symptoms?

Have you recently received oral sex before suspecting herpes?

If so, do you know if the person that gave you oral sex has a history of cold sores?

I got ghsv1 from genital to genital I was the rare case. The female had it genital and I got it as well.

My symptoms are pretty mild. I have no pain or itchness. There is just a red spot on the head which has not cleared at all even after 4 months. I just stays there and just becomes red or mild red. Also sometimes I see white thin layer around the surrounding area and it smells a but fishy.

Has anyone had any symptoms like this ? I thought ghsv1 will not reoccur but in my case it has stayed there for ever. I had a swab done (Dec 2018) on the red spot and it came back positive for hsv1. I did a swab and blood again in Feb 2019 both are negative. Do I really have ghsv1 or something else?

Symptoms are: constant redness, itching on genitals, groin and head of penis. Painful zits on inner thighs. Tingling urethrea with urge to urinate. Tingling nerves in butt, hands, arm, feet. Sore rectum with no obvious signs of problems. Randomly occurring rashes and red bumps in groin area.

Burning upper lip, frequent sores in mouth, burning eyes, headaches, tingling in head, a frequent onslaught of extremely painful zits on neck and forehead. Loss or hearing and fullness in right ear.

A girl I dated also caught the itching, dry eyes.

Some doctors will tell me it definitely sounds herpetic, but I do not test positive. I've seen numerous specialists and taken a lot of tests that have yielded nothing.

I also contracted ghsv1 in January with first outbreak from genital to genital and I’m having constant inflammation, itching and burning in both vaginal and anal areas since then with no lesions. I tried to build resistance to the virus naturally but got tired of the constant pain so started suppressant av recently. I’m hoping if I take av long enough the prodrome symptoms will eventually fade with time. I used to be healthy and active before, this virus has slowed me down a lot and I’m feeling abdominal and pelvic pain from it. Just hoping that hsv1 was less recurrent for me as it’s claimed to be.

I've had genital and rectal burning and itching for almost a year. Tests still come back negative through blood and swab.
