HSV-2 IGg 1.24 positive. Supplemental IGg test negitive

Recommended Posts

I have never had an HSV-2 outbreak, been positive for HSV-1 since childhood and never had a noticeable outbreak or fever blister.

I tested 1.24 this week for hsv-2 IGg. Per CDC requirements the lab did confirmation supplemental IGg testing. That test came Negative.

the Lab sheet says, “Unable to confirm the presence of HSV-2 antibodies. Recommend re-testing in 2 to 4 weeks.”

What can change in 2 to 4 weeks?

Also I have been taking biotin 10,000 mcg supplements of for and nail health. I came across an article saying that biotin can interfere with blood tests.

Well igg anti bodies takes time to form in our body. So if you have got recently infected say within last two to three months then your igg count will not be high. That's why they have recommended a retest after few weeks. If in actual you are infected the igg count will increase. You are right as per cdc anything between 1.1 to 3.5 needs retesting. Western Blot is a gold standard test.
