  1. Thank you! I am just really scared right now. Reading the posts from this site has helped a lot but it's just still always in my mind that I now have to deal with this forever. I am going to call my doctor and ask if I can take the valtrex medication on a regular basis. Thank you for the insight and support!
  2. Thank you for your response! What is the daily suppressive therapy? Is it a prescription my doctor should have given me or is it over the counter medicine?
  3. So I was diagnosed with genital herpes about two weeks ago. I went almost a week without knowing I had it and then when I noticed more sores and pain I finally went to the doctor and was told that I had herpes. I immediately cried. I'm only 23 and I've been healthy my whole life so something like this came as a big shock to me. I spoke to the last guy I was intimate with and he told me he is negative for everything. I had a hard time believing him because of reading online that the outbreaks usually happen a few weeks after being infected and that's what happened to me. He still insists that he is negative. I am now seeing someone who I've been friends with for a while now and we want to be intimate but I just told him last night that I have herpes. He says he's in love with me but he also expressed his concern about him getting it too. I want to continue our relationship but I feel so uneducated on this and helpless when it comes to educating him. I was on Valtrex for 10 days and it cleared up completely. It's been a week since it went away and my doctor has not prescribed me anymore... Should I take it regularly or only when needed? What are the chances of my partner getting it if I'm not taking it and if I am? If anyone can give me any advice I would really appreciate it! I don't want to let this ruin my life and I'm trying to make the best out of this I just need help understanding what this is all about. Thank you!
