I have severe nerve pain after my first bad HSV 2 outbreak. My doctor said it was neuralgia. An inflamed nerve. I’m on 1500mg of gabapentin and it helps tremendously. I tried to stop taking it after 8 days and the pain came right back. So I can’t come off yet Gabapentin may work for you

Hi I’ve developed Post herpetic neuralgia after my first severe herpes outbreak. I’m 55 and scared … I was wondering if anyone else out there has developed this as well and how long did it last? What did you do? any help is welcome

@OB123 I’m sorry to hear that. I love going out and drinking. I’m going to have to watch how it affects me . I just found coconut oil cream works wonders for the itch try it good luck

Im looking for some concrete answers from people who have experienced what I’m going through. Diagnosed Feb11 put on 1000mg of acyclovir … sores cleared down to 500mg of acyclovir but still have painful burning and extreme itching which drives me crazy. It’s March 6th Has anyone else been thru something similar. ?? If so what did you do and how long did it last ? thank you

Thank you for the info. Maybe I need more than 500mg daily of acyclovir. yes I’m on daily antivirals I’ll talk to my dr tomorrow

Hi yes I’m on acyclovir. 500mg a day. I sleep with Benadryl now for the itching and I see small improvements. I just started vitamin c and am going to get coconut oil cream and L Lysine today. I don’t have sores tho. I have unbelievable itching and sharp pains I’m so upset I hope you get better fast. I’ll let you know if anything starts really working. So far I hit a dead end .

Anyone else have itchy burning pain down there even after so long after the sores healed? I am lost someone said put coconut oil cream down there. can anyone relate ?

I’m 55 and married 25 years to the same man and we don’t cheat !! I got herpes 25 years married and gynecologist said he could have given it to me at any point and that it stays dormant in your system

Hello 2 weeks after my first hsv2 outbreak my gyno told me I had neuralgia . I told her I’m severely itchy and have butt pain like burning and stabbing pain. She just chalked it all up to neuralgia. She gave me gabapentin and it has helped a little. But does anyone else have these issues ? desperate ,,, it keeps me up at night
