  1. Thank you so much for the information. I just read an older post by you, coming out of the closet and it was extremely empowering. Thanks for being a valuable resource to all of us :) I really am glad I stumbled upon this forum and website, it's great!! I love the compassion and real talk.
  2. Thank you WCSDancer! I've been reading a ton and trying to be as informed as possible. I never want a partner to feel I was hiding something. Assuming that I only gHSV1, can I give HSV1 to a partner through kissing? Sorry If I am repeating myself, but I want to ensure I am not a risk to my partner.
  3. Hello, I was diagnosed with HSV-1. I was tested positive from the culture my doctor sampled from my genital area, most likely I received it from receiving oral. My partner has oral HSV-1, but was uneducated that he can transfer it to me without having symptoms so he never disclosed it to me. Looking back he realized that he had a sore in his nose at the time and didn't make the connection that it was probably an outbreak. I am assuming I have genital HSV-1, it has been about two months and I haven't noticed any other outbreaks, but I am constantly paranoid that any bump I find on my body is related, however I haven't seen or experienced anything similar to my initial outbreak. Through my research and my doctor I know it is not as common to breakout in the future. Since then for unrelated reasons I am no longer with my partner, I've started dating around and now I have questions. I'm looking for direct answers and advice. If I were to have an outbreak again, where would it most likely appear? Genitals or Mouth? Kissing: Now that I've started to date I would like to kiss my partner, but not sure if it is the "right" thing to do. Do I need to disclose to my partner that I am positive and that he does have a risk of getting HSV-1 by kissing me? I know that Oral HSV-1 is so common etc, but I still feel he should have a choice if he wants to risk it or not. It is hard because kissing happens in fairly early stages of dating and I'm just not sure how to tackle it. How common is it for me, Genital HSV-1, positive to give it to someone by kissing them on mouth? If no breakouts or symptoms are present is it less likely to transfer? Is there more information how often I would be "shedding"? Does it only shed in the area I had my first breakout, or can I shed on my mouth? Your help is appreciated.
