  1. I'm anxious about it because I don't want to pass an infection on that I didnt know I had, and I'm going out of the country later this week and I don't think the country I'm going to would be the best place for medical attention should I do in fact need it. I tend to overthink, if that's not obvious enough here, and grew concerned when I looked up possible sti's from oral sex. But. I guess I should accept the fact that this was a low/no risk encounter and move on mentally...
  2. That's what I thought, and why I didn't blink at the fact when it was offered. However, with some guilt setting in after the fact, I've read that condoms only reduce the risk 30% which I thought sounded low. On the surface it seems like a silly fear I guess, but I'm still concerned that something could come of it. I guess I'm being irrational...
  3. I've read some conflicting information and want to reach a logical conclusion. I received protected oral sex and was concerned about acquiring an infection. The condom was in place the entire time and I don't recall there ever being a point where her mouth touched an unprotected area. There was no apparent signs of hsv on her mouth either. It seems low risk to me, however I did read some articles about infections being possible even with protection. I am hsv1 positive already, and have gotten plenty of cold sores on my mouth over the years. I've read that would make a new location for hsv1 highly unlikely. I have no symptoms as it was a recent encounter. Would this be considered a low risk encounter and not even warrant testing, let alone the endless anxiety thinking about it?
  4. A follow up to a previous post about a small rash on my inner thigh: Out of an abundance of caution, I did an std blood test with negative hsv2 results. However, that was only 2.5 weeks after possible exposure. I now have a red rash on one side of my scrotum, the same side as the bumps on the thigh. It's bright red and scaly looking, however no lesions, pain or clusters of vesicles. It is just really irritated. Everything I read points to a jock itch type infection, however I am still concerned. The incident that I'm concerned about happened 4 weeks ago. Any advice would be certainly appreciated. It just seems too coincidental to have a rash on the same side of my scrotum. Also important to note, I was in a hot tub 3 days prior and not sure if that has something to do with it. I was also traveling for business when the scrotum rash first appeared. If it were indeed a herpes infection, would there have to be lesions/vesicles? Would a bright red rash alone be indicative enough of an std infection? And would my blood test be a fairly positive indictator at this point otherwise? I spoke to the girl I had the encounter with and she assured me nothing is to worry. She forwarded me her testing results from a year ago as she usually does them once per year. Although, herpes didn't appear to be included on the test, her next tests will be in September. Thanks for the advice. This rash is really freaking me out...
  5. Excuse the typos.... was on my phone.

  7. I can't thank you guys enough for taking the time to answer this question. I took a step today and had a blood test drawn and should know within a day or two. And, as silly as this sounds, I paid $40 to post on a dermatology site to post pics and explanation to a doc. His reply suggests it's folliculitis from sweat/pool irritation, and it does not look like a herpes infection. I imagine my guilt is getting the best of me for my careless behavior, as well as the location of the red bumps. I'm still overly concerned, and strive to make this a lesson to really consider my behavior and it's effect on others as well. Thanks again for your thoughtful replies!
  8. Thanks for the reply! I really wish I could post pics to help show what these bumps look like. Perhaps that would help identify better. Anyhow, how can a doctor swab something that is not a sore with any kind of liquid in it? They are simply red bumps. Also, what about getting a full panel of STD tests, including herpes, which would obviously be done by a blood sample? Would they be considered reliable? Thanks again!
  9. Hi all, thanks for the efforts here! I recently developed a rash, or rather small red bumps on my inner thigh that has me concerned. I had an encounter with a woman that I've been with before with no issues, approximately 18 days ago. We've had conversations about Sti's and she insists that she has none. My questions are: - The bumps are on my inner left thigh (groin area), with nothing on my genitals themselves. Could this be a location for a first outbreak? - I've read that first outbreaks are the worst, but I do not have any itching or pain, nor are there any fluid blisters. (I do experience cold sores on my mouth and I know what the blisters look like) Would it be reasonable to expect a cluster of oozing blisters on a first outbreak? - The bumps I have are spaced apart and look like pimples with no whiteheads. There are no "clusters." If it were indeed a herpes outbreak, would they appear clusterlike? - Yes I am a bit paranoid, and in full disclosure I also sweated quite a bit this past weekend doing yard work and swimming in a pool. I do understand these bumps could be caused by that. Thank you for understanding my concern and I apologize in advance if this seems trivial. I tend to overthink but I'd prefer to use an abundance of caution than possibly infect someone else unknowingly.
  10. I'm relieved that you think it is very unlikely that it wasn't spread to my lower region from my mouth. I just can't help but look at this bump and be convinced it is gen herpes. Wish I could show a pic but I guess that's a bit much!? ha
  11. Thanks! She has not tested yet but will certainly do so. if this bump is indeed hsv1 transferred from a muoth sore to my genitals, will this reoccur on my genitals for good now, or will the hsv1 strain go back to wreaking havoc on my mouth and migrate away from genital area? Or do I now have genial herpes for life? It still looks like 1 small sore, not a cluster, and has a light reddish base with a flesh colored top. I can't be sure it's fluid filled as it's small but it certainly doesn't belong there. Most of the reading I have done on the topic specifies a cluster of sores , liquid filled, and very irritated. It itches a tiny bit when I dwell on it but otherwise it's not much of a bother.
  12. Thank you for your thorough reply! I really appreciate the insight. So theoretically, I could have an active cold sore, receive oral sex, and most likely not transfer hsv to my genitals? And if it does turn out to be a hsv sore developing over the next few days, could it be hsv1 and will it reoccur or just lay dormant in that area?
  13. I'm a bit panicked, hoping to receive some sound advice. I have had hsv1 for as long as I can remember. I was out in the sun for a while and caught a little sunburn on the head and face. No big deal I thought. My lips felt chapped and I just used some Chapstick to soothe them. I hooked up with my girlfriend 2 days later and we kissed, she gave me oral, and we also had sex. A day later I noticed my lip was still agitated and possibly had a minor cold sore. It was small, and only lasted a few days rather than the usual 2 weeks or so. Can hsv1 be transmitted from my mouth, to her mouth, to my genitalia during a 30 second oral sex act? Can hsv2 be transmitted in that manner? I've never had any signs of hsv2 and had a blood test for all std's recently and it was negative across the board. Today,5 days later, I noticed a tiny little pinhead sized bump on the shaft of my penis. It is not a cluster of bumps, doesn't itch, etc. I can't help but think that kissing her and then her performing oral sex on me has passed the virus to my genitals. I don't have an oozing cold sore. I really wasn't even certain it was one at all. it just felt like chapped lips. Is this an irrational fear or very real diagnosis of now having hsv2? Thank you so much for the insight!
