  1. I forgot to mention that my ex tested negative after I first tested positive. Then after we broke up this past august he started having itching symptoms. He got tested again and his tests came back equivocal. He will be going to a different doctor soon. What could it be for him? He hasn't been sexually active with anyone else since we role up and I trust him on that.
  2. Well I can't find out if I don't have it for certain until I get tested again using the western blot. For now should I be disclosing? I was having itching and then the doc prescribed diflucan for yeast and the itching went away.
  3. I'm a broke college student so I wouldn't really want to spend money on a phone consult /: i may just get tested again in a few weeks to make sure but for right now I don't know what to do about disclosure...
  4. She said that my labs 3 years ago showed that my igG for hsv-1 and hsv-2 were negative and my igM for both were positive. The tests I did last week show that my igM and igG for both types are negative. Is it more likely that I got a false positive or more likely I got a false negative? I just don't know what to do in terms of disclosure because I've just started seeing someone. The doctor just advised me to get tested again in 6 months...
  5. My doctor told me he suspected that my results this time around would be positive for the IgG antibodies because I was diagnosed years ago, so I am assuming that the test I got done this time did test for IgG. I still get itches once in a while though so I think I have the virus?
  6. Three years ago I had a very severe yeast infection and got treated for it. However, even after the yeast cleared the itching did not cease, so my doctor sent me to a specialist. He took a look and said that I probably have herpes so we did a swab and a blood test. The swab came back negative (I didn't really have any blisters) and the blood test came back positive for IgM antibodies for both HSV-1 and HSV-2. I found out when I was already in a monogamous relationship for a year and he was very supportive. However, we have recently broken up and I decided to get tested again to make sure since my "outbreaks" were so mild that I never knew if it was due to herpes or if it was just a yeast infection. Recently I had a bump down there but it was the first one I've ever had. It went away in 2 weeks. I got my blood test done a few days after the bump had cleared and just found out that I tested negative on both types of herpes. I understand that false negatives are common after a recent infection but I was initially diagnosed 3 years ago so I am very confused. Is it possible that my first test was a false positive? Or that herpes antibodies disappear after a while and I still have the virus? Have my very mild rare outbreaks been yeast infections the whole time? Any input would be great!
