  1. It has been a month since I've been exposed to HSV. I don't know if it was 1, 2 or both. I have never had any oral sores prior to this exposure. My initial outbreak was both oral and genital. Today, I am getting second oral outbreak! :( I have not gotten a second genital outbreak yet. 1. Is it possible to contract HSV1 and HSV2 at the same time in the same exposure? Does my initial oral and genital outbreak mean I could have gotten both types? 2. Is it possible that my oral is HSV2? If so, would it recur like this in a month's time? How rare is it for oral HSV2 to recur? 3. I also had an initial herpetic whitlow outbreak. Is this HSV1 or HSV2? My concern is that I now have both 1 and 2 but the 1 is recurring orally since my initial outbreak. Thank you.
  2. @Getbetter11 Hope you and your wife are feeling better. Did you find out what it is? How is your child doing? All the best.
  3. @Getbetter11 Do you or your wife get near her mouth? Even when there are no ob's? Until it's swabbed please try to stay positive and don't worry yourself so much.
  4. @GetBetter11 I'm sorry to hear that. Until they swab her mouth how do the doctors know it's hsv? Also, do you or your wife kiss the baby on the mouth?
  5. @Getbetter11 Let us know what they say. I also have a full feeling in my cervix. I don't know if it's from the herpes.
  6. The first step in stopping the perceived stigma about herpes - is to stop believing in it yourself.
  7. @Cupsam123 Hello. Yes, it sounds like you are having your first outbreak. Please go to the doctor to get it confirmed and to receive medication.
  8. @MMissouri Thanks for the reply. Isn't it spread if it's shedding? I'm worried because infants need diaper changes and sometimes they have microscopic cuts on their faces.
  9. I have oral, genital and herpetic whitlow all in the same exposure. My biggest concern is shedding from my finger. If anyone on these forums has herpetic whitlow, please reply. Do you come in close contact with others when there is no outbreak? Does the virus shed from the cuticle/finger? I'm very concerned because there is very little information about herpetic whitlow online. And doctors don't have many answers. I'd like to know from anyone who has experience. Should I keep my finger covered at all times? Do I have to avoid contact with any infant skin?
  10. @Sil88 Thanks for your reply. What makes you think you won't see much of it? Do you have children or anyone you come in contact with often? Do you touch them when there is no outbreak?
  11. @Sil88 What precautions do you take? Do you get prodrome in your finger? Do you keep it away from touching others? Or only when there is an outbreak? Do you think it sheds on finger?
  12. @Frenchman @whitedaisies Is he still having ocular problems?
  13. @WCSDancer2010 No, he did not give me oral. And he wore a condom. Which I know is not a fool proof barrier but I'm just wondering how I got oral and genital outbreak. Does this mean he also has hsv1 genital?
  14. @WCSDancer2010 He did not have any cold sores nor did he gave any lesions in his genital area. The only other answer is that he was shedding. I did partake in oral so do you think its possible for me to get HSV2 orally from his genitals?
  15. @WCDSDancer2010 Thank you! I will print that all out and go to the doctor. One question I have is, how is it possible that I never had a cold sore but after exposure had cold sore (on outside of lip, dozed, honey crusted) AND genital outbreak? Did I contract oral and genital at the same time? Is it also possible for the oral to be HSV2 and will prefer not to stay in the oral area?
  16. @WCSDancer2010 Thanks so much for the advice. How would you suggest to change the diaper? Wear a glove every time? Or when there is an outbreak? Also, is it possible to feel prodrome in the finger? Would that mean it is asymptomatically shedding? As you said it can shed even though it isn't mucous membrane. Does that mean it can shed any time?
  17. @WCSDancer2010 Some say all it takes is skin to skin contact. Others say there needs to be saliva and broken skin for the virus to enter. I'm so confused. Sorry for the two questions in a row.
  18. @whitedaisies That's good to hear. What was the viral conjunctivitis from? Which virus?
  19. @ivoryrain I've never had pink eye. So I find it so odd that all of a sudden I'm experiencing burning and dry eyes after my exposure.
  20. @Sil88 Where did the bumps appear? Same location as before?
  21. @WCSDancer2010 Would you advise not to touch a baby's skin at all? Even if there is no outbreak? There could be small cuts on a baby's face. Also, what about bathing time? Is only the finger with the outbreak shedding? Or all my fingers? Should I keep it covered any time I am holding a baby?
  22. @Corissa How are your eyes doing? Do they still have that pressure feeling?
  23. @cecibuendia I have been having burning feeling in my right eye. Not sure if that's normal for someone who just caught the virus.
  24. @cecibuendia Is your eye irritation from eye herpes? Did you go to an eye doctor?
