  1. @wcsdancer2010, thank you for your suggestions. I definitely will get my blood work done for only IgG very soon. If the results are iffy the Western blot seems like a good option. I'm not sure if this is a bacterial infection or not.. Whenever I put antibiotic ointment on the sores they go away. I will usually get a couple of red marks on my thigh or underwear crease when there is enough friction and they will turn into pimple/blisters within a day and the blisters will be gone the next day. This is why I haven't been able to get a culture done since they are somewhat healed by the time I go to the clinic. I don't even get any sores around the vaginal opening or labia... It's just my thighs, butt cheeks, and lower back. Very confusing and hopefully the blood test will clear things up for me.
  2. @mmissouri, I am as confused as you are. I was not on antivirals at the time I took my blood test which was 1.5 years after a positive culture for hsv1. I never had another outbreak or even a tingle after that first outbreak(which was horrible) was swabbed. I'm thinking maybe there was some type of fluke with the swabbing and got a false positive result. I am allergic to latex so maybe it was a form of contact dermatitis. I'm thinking I may have gotten hsv2 from another partner because I started having severe itching, bumps, and rashes down there after I slept with him. It has also been constant... I haven't been rash or redness free in over a year now. Thank tou so much for taking the time to help me out with this confusing point in my life and I'll hopefully have results from the doctor once I get my blood test. I've decided that once my insurance kicks in I will get a blood test from them since it is cheaper and I'm a little low on funds at the moment. If that one turns out negative I'll call WH so I can be 100% certain.
  3. Flower_Power, it's a little more comforting to know that I'm not alone in dealing with something like this. Have you noticed the bumps on your thighs decreasing after outing antibiotic ointment on? I tried that yesterday and the bumps decreased dramatically. I have been using extra strength neem soap down there for a year and it doesn't seem to be decreasing symptoms. I take daily lysine, olive leaf extract, vitamin C and coconut oil. I've also started drinking apple cider vinegar daily and still deal with every day itching and tingling. I don't think a day has gone by in the last 1.5 years that I haven't had some sort of strange irritation, pimple, or itchiness down there and am about to cave in and take valtrex since acyclovir doesn't seem to help. I'm starting to become really worried as I've met someone that I really like and want to be with, but if I'm having an outbreak every day then it means I can never have sex. Thank you for your response. Did antivirals decrease your symptoms at least?
  4. Thanks MMissouri, for your response. I got type specific blood tests for both IgG and IgM 1.5 years after the positive culture and my IgG antibodies were negative for both types. Wouldn't it have shown up by then?
  5. Hey everyone! I've been having a lot of ups and downs with the concept of having herpes for a really long time and was wondering if you guys could give me some advice. In December 2012 I slept with a guy whom I really trusted. He performed oral on me and a couple days later I broke out in a bunch of blisters down there(I'm a female). I did not have health insurance at the time so I went to planned parenthood and they did a culture which was positive for hsv1. I never had a second outbreak until December 2013 after I started sleeping with another guy. He was the first person I was with after my first outbreak and he had told me he had gotten cold sores before. I had what seemed like herpes blisters spread out in my genital area for 3+ weeks after that encounter and I came to the conclusion that he had given me hsv2 as well. About 8 months of constant outbreaks later I got a blood test and it came back positive for hsv2 IgM(the number was 2 something). I became extremely confused since I was positive I would have had some hsv1 antibodies by then because of that culture I had done. Fast forward almost a year from that blood test, I've been getting what I think are constant outbreaks on my inner/upper thighs, butt, and bikini line...none are ever around my vaginal opening and every time I had sex I would get a deep cut inside as well as an ulcer type thing. It was swabbed and came back negative. I really want another blood test done once my new health insurance kicks in, but I'm just really frustrated at the fact that a day hasn't gone by without a new blister or irritation popping up and I feel like I can never have sex again as I get outbreaks every single day. I just wanted to know if there is anyone else out there with a similar story of being confused for years and having constant outbreaks. I have attached a photo of what my inner thigh looks like right now(not graphic) after I shaved down there and am wondering if it looks like a anything you guys have experienced. These outbreaks pop up within a day and are gone 3 days later, and then more pop up. I am currently seeing a guy that I want to get serious with and am having doubts of actually being with him since I don't wanna pass it onto him(because of the outbreaks every day). Thanks guys. http://imgur.com/KcwMUDf [link to thigh photo]
