  1. Hi: My wife, who is 50 and in good health, has been suddenly diagnosed with erythema multiforme. She has had two biopsies which confirm the EM. She has a history of HSV - both culture and blood test - which has been dormant during the entire time of this mysterious disease. She has been going through this for five months now. It all started in March following the death in our family. During the funeral she got a sinus infection but could not rest properly and was given strong antibiotics. A month after the funeral she developed blisters in her mouth and on her hands. Those went down and news ones appeared soon after. We have been to four dermatologists at major universities. It wasn't until May that she was started on oral antiviral meds - which appear to be helping but not stopping new spots on her arms and legs and mouth. The severity and duration have deminished but not stopped. Does anyone have experience with this rare reaction to HSV? I've read and know all about it --- it is NOT self-limiting and will NOT resolve in 2-4 weeks as the "experts" claim. Also thoughts on antiviralis and their course of action-- is this normal for the med to slow it down or to stop it? Will this ever go away ? Thanks
