  1. Why do you think it's genital? I have hsv 1 too but I have had a few cold sores orally before, but I am also wondering if I have it genitally after my last sexual encounter with a male w ghsv1. I too have not had a genital outbreak so I really don't know. I feel tingle sensations too. Hsv2-
  2. I am wondering if it is possible to get genital hsv 1 if I had unprotected sex once with male w genital hsv 1. I have had mouth cold sores before this so I have hsv 1. Obviously I tested positive for hsv 1 and negative for hsv 2 by blood. Never had any outbreak, pain, or burning, just what I think are swollen lymph nodes in the groin/ovary area. I feel them more around the time of my period. What does everyone think? What advice do you have for me about partners and sex?
  3. @wcsdancer2010 thank you for your reply. The values weren't included with the results. So if I've had cold sores on my mouth before, i'm not likely to get it genitally? Does this ever happen? I'm so confused. What is your advice about my guy? Should I try to move on and not worry about it? Do I assume that I have it?
  4. Also I went to my family doctor and obgyn after my first post, who both told me not to be worried! And offered me no blood test. I am so confused!

  6. Hi again! So I found a doctor that got me a blood test. The results are igm- negative, hsv1igg- antibody detected, hsv2igg- no antibody detected. What should I make of these results? It's been over 6 months and still no visible symptoms, pain, or burning. I have had cold sores on my mouth before only a few times that I can remember. Lymph node on left side in groin area has still been slightly swollen. I don't notice it but can feel it when poking around. Feelings of itches, tingles, and sore lower back but I'm not sure if these are normal feelings that I'm just worried about. White-ish discharge at times, but again I might've had this before. What do you think? I am seeing someone now and haven't been intimate yet, but not sure what my results mean and if it's safe to be intimate. I've been beyond stressed and worried about this for quite some time and wondered why I haven't had an outbreak if stress is a trigger. Still don't know what to do or think so please help me! I would appreciate it so much!
  7. What kinds of symptoms do you get for recurring outbreaks? Always the same?
  8. Has anyone tested positive for herpes without symptoms or without noticing mild symptoms? Have you passed it on without knowing? How did you find out?
  9. Has anyone had herpes symptoms and actually tested negative?
  10. I would love to know what everyone thinks and what your opinions are!
  11. Long story short, I found out someone that I was intimate with has herpes. I thought that I was okay because I did not have any initial break outs, rash, discomfort, burning, etc. afterwards. Thinking back, I did have very mild flu-like symptoms about a month after the last time we had sex, near the time of my period. At that time, I felt like I was about to get a cold sore but it never developed - just a little dot. I only ever remember having one cold sore prior, a few years ago. I also realized that I have been getting enlarged lymph nodes in my groin area near the time of my period for the last fews months now. These are mild as well. I had seen a couple doctors about my swollen lymph nodes because I was concerned and knew that something was off, but didn't know about his H status yet. Now, 5 months later I still have no visible lesions, rashes, burning, etc. At times I "feel" itches and tingles but very mild and nothing extreme. I have been to three doctors since, telling them my situation and requesting a test. They have all told me that it is not beneficial to test unless there is something visible to swab, and to keep an eye on it and return if I see anything. One has even told me that I DO NOT have herpes. He explained it like this: It's the same as requesting a test for shingles without having any rash. I am really worried about whether I have it or not and passing it on to someone if I do. I have not gotten any clear, good answers and don't know what else to do. Do I have it or not? Should I tell future partners? What to do? Please help/share your experiences.
