  1. Hello, I was diagnosed with GHSV-1 in 2014 when i had the worst initial OB. I am not on any medication and haven't had any noticeable outbreaks. i've had some discomfort twice, but they both went away after 2 days, and so i'm not sure if they were OBs or something else since OBs can be so mild. For those that have been diagnosed with GHSV-1, are you on suppresive medication? If you stop taking them, do you break out? For those not on meds, how often do you break out and how different are subsequent breakouts both in terms of frequency and symptoms? Thanks
  2. Hi all, a bit long, but i appreciate the patience. One Sunday I got an itch in one place in my lady parts and thought it was weird. I thought maybe i need to shower again, so i did but it didn't go away (the Friday before I had oral sex for the first time with the guy i was dating). Within two days (by Tuesday) i was itching unbearably. Went to see a doctor who looked at me and visually diagnosed me with herpes. She also took some sort of sample (was not a simple swab). Got on the medication. Within a few days, i was even worse - i had a lot of thick whitish/yellowish discharge (not sure where it was coming from, but when i moved my vagina lips, it was everywhere) and it was so painful to pee. During that time the doctor called me with the result and said it was negative but she still thinks it's herpes because of all the other symptoms and this test can sometimes be inaccurate depending on if the sample was taken too early [i'm not sure if i had started developing lesions when i went to see her. I had just started itching uncontrollably two days prior]. I asked her for a blood test and when it came back she called and said the results indicate i have a slightly elevated amount of antibodies, which means my body is just starting to produce anti bodies, and i have herpes. I take the meds for two full weeks, twice a day. At the end of it, it doesn't hurt to pee anymore, but i'm still itching and it's uncomfortable. I call her again and say i'm very itchy. She said 'that's weird - the medication should've cleared you all up', so she runs more tests, and calls me a few days later to say 'good news, you don't have herpes, you have a yeast infection' and prescribed me a pill. All my itching disappeared within 24 hours. Now, i'm actually trying to get my hands on the blood test i did and i just ordered a western blot test as well. I am so confused. Unfortunately, once she diagnosed me with herpes, i was so disgusted with myself i could not even bring myself to take a mirror and look down there to see what was going on - i just did not want to see. If it was in fact a yeast infection, i never had one before that day and haven't had one since. What are the chances i developed such a severe yeast infection after never having had one and it started two days after having oral sex with my boyfriend for the first time? I think the coincidence is too much. For those ladies who've had yeast infections in the past, does it start out as an itch in one place and effectively spreads? i felt an itch that just got worse and felt like it was spreading. For those with herpes, once a herpes outbreak ends, is that usually it? it clears up and all is well or do you keep itching? how likely is it to have a herpes outbreak and yeast infection simultaneously? I think the doctor mis-diagnosed me and after spending thousands of dollars [i didn't have health insurance at the time and each visit and test and medication, i paid for], i'm still trying to diagnose myself. I think I have Ghsv1. Problem is even if the blood work comes back positive, it won't tell me where I have hsv1, but i've also never had a cold sore. I haven't had an outbreak looking anything even remotely like that first outbreak, but i've itched in a certain place [an itch that feels eerily similar to that itch i first felt that Sunday before all hell broke loose], but it usually goes away within 24 hours. I think of it as an outbreak because of how the itch feels. I'm so resentful of this doctor, i'm seriously considering filing a complaint. Please help me! Please describe your herpes symptoms esp how it started and developed over time. Thanks
