  1. @Optimist , I know it takes longer for them to build on valtrax. I want to know if it gives a complete hault to the IGG numbers? I guess I'm curious to know if the values should rise even a small amount. I've scoured the internet looking for this answer (even Terri Warrens website). Maybe it's there and I'm just not finding it. Again, I only find that is slows the production of antibodies (as you mentioned) It was my doctors recommendation to come back and 4 weeks later (9/1/17) from the previous test. In addition, she said that she saw no further need to retest since i was negative and haven't had a outbreak. She went from a pretty strong " you have this" on the first results to maybe you're getting a false negative on the IGM. She even said my insurance wouldn't cover anymore test, now that it showed negative. That didn't really make sense to me. Maybe I should find another doctor to do testing? I assume the Valtrax could be preventing me from getting symptoms or and OB.
  2. I really hope someone responds to this message and has some knowledge on blood tests. I can't seem to find any information regarding this question. The only information that I found, was to stop taking Valtrax (a while) before having blood tests. While, I understand IGM is unreliable, I have had it come back positive twice. I haven't had any external sores. I've only had "Inflamed Cervix" per my doctor. I also had other symptoms (Burning/discharge). First test 7/19/17. - NO VALTRAX IGG HSV1- .07 HSV2- .08 Postive Igm 1.11 7/31/17 VALTRAX 1GM was taken before test IGG HSV1- Less than .01 HSV2 .06 Postive IGM 1.26 9/1/17 - 500 MG. valtrax daily. (8 weeks post exposure) HSV1- Less than .01 HSV2- .06 IGM - Negative .78 Even though I've been taking Valtrax daily, should I still be seeing the IGG values rising (even slightly)? Or does the valtrax just stop ALL signs of IGG production? Per my doctors recommendation, she said stop the Valtrax immediately. Thoughts?
  3. I don't know. I've read the same about the IgM. It gave me hope when I went in for the second blood test, when it came back positive. I lost all my hope.
  4. Glad you're feeling better. Not sure why username shows "Long". It's been shortened, Strange.
  5. Yes, I've been reading there blogs. I've read some of Terri's book and the herpes handbook. I read her comments on western heights and I've read some of the others. I'll retest and let you know the results. I'm still going to wait till the first part of September. I was tested 7/19 and 7/31. she told me to test again in 4 weeks to give my body time to build up the Antibodies (IgG) The NP seemed pretty positive when she told me and told me she had never seen anyone at her office have a false positive on IgM. Mine has come back positive twice, so it doesn't make feel too good. I don't want to get off the suppressive medication, because of my family. The common cold can trigger an Herpes Outbreak.
  6. My child has gotten a cold, I can feel it coming on. So my immune system must lowered. I'm about to see if I have a outbreak, or I could never know since mine could be internal. Plus, I'm curious is mine is also oral. I haven't show any signs, but that doesn't mean I don't have it. :(
  7. Initially , I wasn't. She didn't prescribe Valtrex till my result came back positive. The second test, I was still on 1MG of Valtrex. Now, I'm on suppressive therapy at 500mg daily. I want to reduce the risk of passing this on to my family, especially my child. I'd go ahead and ask the OBGYN for Valtrex. It wouldn't hurt.
  8. No symptoms currently, probably due to the Valtrax. It suppresses the virus. You can search if they can do a swab on the cervix. However, when she swabbed me it only tested for other STI's. The blood test is the most accurate for Herpes.
  9. Swab will not show anything for Herpes. It has to be sore and they take samples of fluid. They will draw your blood, and send it to be tested. You will get the IgM and IgG results.
  10. Yes, You're right. IgM only indicates that I have a current herpes infection. It can take up to 16 weeks for the IgG results to become positive, since the exposure. I had symptoms for 3/4 weeks, but valtrex helps reduce symptoms and shortens the OB time. I will be having my 3rd retest at the beginning of September.
  11. Did you get copy of your test results? Green discharge isn't associated with herpes. I saw you went to the ER. Have you been to a OBGYN?
  12. I can't pin point when it started. if I had to guess I'd say over 3/4 weeks, until I got medication. She originally gave me oral medication for BV. There were days, I felt completely normal and then days, I say, it's back. After she called and told me I was positive she prescribed me 1gm of Valtrax for 10 days. Like you, when she observed me, she didn't find any lesions. She only found my cervix was irritated and inflamed. I can't recall which medication I was taking , but one night I was laying in bed and I felt EXTREME sharp pain in my stomach. I only had it once. Mine sounds almost exactly like your symptoms with the exception of the time frame. However,my tests results show positive and I was given the medication for that result. I also have read other people, like yourself, find they are having a long lasting symptoms or recurrent outbreaks. Do you ever feel "normal" ? How long have you been taking the antibiotic? I guess I would be concerned, if it hasn't cleared and you finished your antibiotic.
  13. I'd get tested to be sure. I've read, your first outbreak is usually within 2-10 days of acquiring the virus. If it has been three months since you have had sex, you might show some IGG antibodies. You're the first person I have read on this forum that has symptoms similar to mine. However, I haven't been confirmed because of my IgG antibodies. I've read that IgM are unreliable. However, I'm not feeling to confident since my IgM numbers increased. Hoping for the best for you! ((hugs))
  14. I recently found out I am H+. Although, it is only through my IgM number (which I've read are unreliable). 1st test 1.11 and second 1.26. My IGG numbers were very low (HSV1, .07; HSV2, .08). 2nd test (HSV1, .0100 ; HSV2, .06) Also, these numbers were approx. a month after contact. I've spent countless hours reading on the internet. However, I have some questions that I can't seem to find direct answers for online. I understand it isn't airborne and it's skin to skin. 1. When a coldsore isn't present and someone drinks after you, what are the chances of transmitting the virus to them? 2. Can you give someone herpes through a cough, sneeze, runny nose? I have a small child (nearly 2) and I have seen SO many posts that say they can only get genital herpes from sexual abuse. However, I've seen a ridiculous amount of posts saying that there child has acquired genital herpes. How? Self-infection? Dirty hands (Coughing and sneezing)? Not washing your hands from using the restroom? 3. Any other advice/ not-to's for a mother of small child? My ultimate concern is for my child. Thanks!
  15. I went to the doctor because I had some slight burning. I also had excessive watery discharge, but I didn't relate it to anything because I was overseas with no AC (extremely hot). I thought I had BV. The NP told me that my cervix was slightly inflamed and she didn't see any visible lesions. She recommend tests for STIs, but didn't think I had anything. (eyeroll) The NP called the first time and told me my results were negative, but called me back later the same day and told me I was positive due to my igM number (1.11). Two weeks later my IgM number increased to 1.26. However, my IGG antibodies haven't yet formed and were even lower due to Valtrex. Have you had unprotected sex/oral recently? I'd certainly go get a blood test from your doctor. However, if you had a recent exposure, you could be like me... waiting in limbo. It can take up to 16 weeks for the results to turn positive.
