  1. I would really appreciate anyone's help with this. Thanks. I'm fairly depressed.
  2. I posted this in another herpes forum. However, I'd like to get some feedback on this asap as well as just interact with some people who have the same virus. I am new to this. I recently tested positive for hsv-1. I believe my first exposure to it was on my finger. I had very bad herpetic whitlow on my finger. I think it may have been from touching someone genitally who might have had herpes (I don’t know for sure if she does) a few days before it happened. The doctor told me it was herpetic whitlow and it looked just like the pictures. A couple years before getting the whitlow, I was tested a couple times and both times I was negative for hsv-1 and hsv-2. In the intervening two years I never saw anything that looked like a cold sore. This has made me think I don’t have oral or genital herpes, but herpes in my finger. However, after testing positive just a few days ago (the whitlow happened in August), I did get a sore on my lip. My lips were very chapped from a lot of sunlight, and I think they were bitten a couple of times by the person I am dating. To me, it looks like the canker sores I have gotten in my mouth before, or an infected cut as I have had before on various parts of my body, and not like pictures of herpes. However, for people who are experienced here, perhaps you have thoughts. The pictures are here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rk4ovtzyrcmgcw1/AAAxygYVRiyD_UB5udlW_bbSa?dl=0 It would be nice if I didn’t have herpes orally so I didn’t have to worry about spreading it orally. Also, I will get it tested as soon as I get my new insurance info for the new year (if it’s still there). Regardless of what I hear from people here, I am going to see a doctor about hsv-1 because I somehow did not think it mattered after I got the whitlow, but it is transmittable, I believe -- even from my finger if there are no sores. I suppose this is another question. If you know about this, that would be very helpful as well. Thank you!
