Nerve symptoms / infectious time

I have a lot of tingling nerves since my first outbreak but have only had 2 outbreaks in 2.5 years. I have sharp buttock pain now and then. I take the latter as warning that I am infectious but what about all these tingling nerves in legs, etc. What is a sign of pre outbreak  and what isn’t? I take the tingling as nerve damage as it is not even in my genital region. How long do I play safe for after buttock pain if there is no outbreak? This must mean the virus is trying to activate, right? But then I have no outbreak. This is a horrible minefield that makes me scared to have sex ever again
