Need some insight, been dealing with this for a little over three months

So back in april my upper lip essentially just swelled up, got that feeling as if when your foot falls asleep "pins and needles"?, and kinda plused and rumbled as if something was moving inside of it and it stayed like that for a little but then i developed this dry patch that would get chapped i'd peel it and the process would repeat itself, all the while my lips still "tingled". I never got anything blisters, nothing leaked, or scabbed over, i put abreva on the patch and that didnt work. then everything also moved to my bottom lip, so now both lips feel and have the same issue. Ive gone to the dermatologist and i got prescribed some ointments but all its done is take away the chappedness and the swelling a bit. Its been a little past three months and I still feel the pins and needles and everywhere i look tells me i have herpes but i really dont think so. Has anyone gone through this and it turned out to actually be oral herpes?
