Outbreak question

I just got through my first breakout and I was wondering a few things, whenever I was diagnosed my primary care provider didn't give me any information about it so I've just been googling and using this site. My first outbreak was very painful, but I only ever had one small "sore" that looked like a tiny cut and it was gone within about a week. They say the recurrent outbreaks are usually less severe than the first one and I'm now on accyclovir 400 mg twice a day, so is it looking like maybe my outbreaks won't be terrible whenever I have them? I'm really worried about it but I know there's no way to know for sure.
