  1. No I have not heard that it works for Rosacea. Light therapy works better for that.
  2. It works on a lot of skin thingies. My finger was hurting in the side if my nail for days zapped it & it's completly fine. I had 1 tiny bump come up & wasn't sure if it was H starting. Was in a spot I've had it before. I zapped it like I was in a Sci-Fi movie! I probably over zapped it! It's gone :-) Blackheads you usually have to extract. If it's been there awhile then once extracted it might leave a bit of a hole. Zap the area. It's my new favorite go too! I've been sick with a cold & the side of my nose really sore. I zapped it & it healed up. Wasn't hurting at all by evening. It really works on many things :-)
  3. Isn't it crazy how much guilt is attached to having HSV?! You shouldn't feel rotten for feeling something that is natural. It's almost like HSV makes us feel guilty for feeling sexual or desirable. I know how you feel because I feel that way often too. I read something on one of the post while scrolling through them that made sense. You didn't have sex or like you said you would have disclosed before it happened. But why isn't the other party asking also what your history is? It seems so few do. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. "Worry pushes the good away" I read that somewhere :-) Just focus on the good part where you felt desirable & happy. We all deserve that! :-)
  4. Thanks Fitgirl, he is amazing! We've been through a lot together. He's my Rock!
  5. I know :-/ I'm trying to get past that...I suppose it's just a process only time will help getting used to having HSV....
  6. Mine came with both colors but the one I use for zapping is Orange. They both work. The long glass piece with the ball at the end I use on my outbreak. I'd start at your lowest setting seeing some are stronger then others. Just depends on the manufacturer. Place your finger on the glass piece & then removing your finger gently tap the head of the glass piece on your breakout. I started at about 5 mins just zapping my spot. It was hurting before I used the High Frequency ALOT. As soon as I started tapping the bump it started feeling like it wasn't throbbing anymore. I kept tapping meaning tapping the glass piece on the bump. It started looking smaller. I did it for 5 mins. I'd suggest starting for a few mins a few times a day. It just feels like static. I also read if you start feeling prodomes or tender in the area the faster you start using it the less likely you'll have a breakout. I've used it on my last 2 breakouts & it helped with the aching pain & it cleared up within a few days. I hope that it helps :-) And yes it's great on the face to smooth fine lines & wrinkles. And a side effect can be hair growth. That's why they give a glass comb. The key is consistency in using it.
  7. Thank you, I have disclosed to my partner who is negative for HSV. I was curious with so many on this forum as to if anyone got it that way with certainty. I figured since so many read here that are in the same boat with HSV, I was wondering how many knowingly have contacted HSV 1 that way? Although my partner knows the risks it still something I don't want to pass on. I prefer not to be on suppressive therapy at this time because I'd like to give my body time to build up antibodies. I may consider it in the future. We do practice safe sex with condoms but by his choice not everytime. Then I just find myself more stressed out for putting him at risk. I've cleaned up my diet & am trying the natural supplement route. I'm still in the finding what works for me phase.
  8. I'd start out slow & see how your outbreaks respond. I sparked mine meaning using a tapping on the outbreak for 10 seconds. The total time I used it was 5 to 10 minutes each time. A few times a day. I'm used to high frequency since it's used where I work. But since it's new to you start out slow until your used to using it. It looks & sounds more intense them it is :-) Hope that helps!!
  9. I keep reading & hearing HSV1 genital to genital has an extremely low transmission rate. I have HSV1 Genital & know it was from someone who had it only orally. Since Physicians seem to not know as much as we would think about HSV it makes me wonder how accurate the statistics are? I've also read there's few if any documented cases of it being transferred this way. Has anyone transmitted HSV1 or gotten it knowing for sure it was from Genital to Genital exposure? I'm wondering if the statistics hold true??
  10. Witch Hazel works wonders & helps dry them up. If you purchase Tucks wipes or the stores version & look at the ingredients with hazel is in them. Or just buy straight Witch Hazel & apply it to a sterile gauze pad. I would leave it on the are with my out breaks for about am hour. It's something I use whenever I have an outbreak.
  11. I think most of us don't understand HSV unless we contact it or know someone who has it. I am an Instructor & honestly had not a lot of knowledge aside of what's in my textbook (which is minimal) I don't think it comes as a surprise seeing my doctor basically told me little to nothing about what to expect. I even asked during my exam if she could tell if I had any on the inside & her response was "Their not usually inside." Everything I learned was on my own. Now I could probably write a book! My point is if doctors seem to know so little about it how can we be surprised the public is as in the dark about how it's passed ect???? I wish the schools would teach this when were in High School in sex ed! Believe me my students are FULLY informed when I am teaching "Infection Control" but it's only because I myself in my forties contracted it because I didn't have a clue how it was passed.... Just reinforces it's hard to have public awareness when so many physicians are not properly informed....
  12. Here's an article about Light Therapy. I also have one of these that I'll also try if another outbreak arises. I find all these devices hopeful :-) http://more-than-words.hubpages.com/hub/LED-LIGHT-THERAPY-FOR-TEENAGERS
  13. I don't see the actual one I purchased but I'll post a link to one we use at school. They all work similarly. Hope this helps :-) http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EON7ZAM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1424616451&sr=8-1&keywords=high+frequency+portable&dpPl=1&dpID=415hMZCNzmL&ref=plSrch&pi=AC_SX200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=415hMZCNzmL&ref=plSrch
  14. I'll look and see if I can find the one I purchased. I bought mine awhile back before I had HSV. Yes it is used for Acne. We use it at the school I teach at as do most Esthetic schools. We use it on breakouts & after doing extractions on a client to heal the skin faster. I'm not sure why it's not marketed as much as other devices out there. But I do know it works very well at healing skin lesions. I've seen it first hand. I just put 2 & 2 together one day and thought, I wonder if it would help heal up HSV lesions, bumps or blisters? I researched a bit & found it talked about how it speeds up healing time of Cold Sores which we know is HSV. Although mine are in the genital region I decided to try using it on mine. I figured why not see if it would work there too. And like I had mentioned it worked well for me :-) I believe there's a lot of things out there to speed healing times. I think beyond Meds & supplements (which I use also) there is also Tesla & Light Therapy ( which also comes in hand held devices) Put all of it together & I'm hoping less outbreaks & when they do happen faster healing time :-) That's my thought :-) I don't want to dwell on the fact I have HSV. That I cannot change at this point but instead how to supress it & speed up healing outbreaks. I know everyone's outbreak are different but finding what works is just a process of elimination I'm assuming :-)
  15. I used it on my last outbreak. I had 1 bump that was throbbing. I felt relief shortly after using High Frequency. I used 3x that day. The next day pain was gone but bump was there not as large used it 3 more times throughout the day. Pain was completely gone by the end of the day & the bump was gone completely 2 days after. I was pretty impressed :-) My attachment came with 4 different glass electrodes. I used the thin one. We use it during treatments to so call "spark" a lesion. Feels like a tiny static electricity. I "sparked" mine for about 5 mins each time. It gives off an ozone scent which is basically the effect of a High Frequency. I'll be using it everytime I have an outbreak from here on out! If you read about it it's said to kill bacteria, viruses & fungus. All I know is it helped mine!
  16. It definately takes it's toll on our emotions! When I've had an out break it hurts/stings. I've found witch hazel to help ALOT! Or even tucks wipes it the generic kind. Every couple hours I soak a piece of gauze with witch hazel & leave it on the area for awhile. 20 minutes sometimes longer. It helps the ache & seems to dry the outbreak up faster. I've been using a hand held High Frequency also. You can find them on eBay. It's a glass piece that runs a current through the modality. I set it on low & go over the area several times a day. It calms the pain down & heals the are faster. It's seemed to have helped me. Hope that might help :-)
  17. If you need to talk message me anytime! I know it's very overwhelming. My first outbreak was awful! I was told it should clear up in a couple weeks. Mine lasted over a month. I had 3 outbreaks back to back. Probably the stress & anxiety of having it added to it taking it's toll. I took Valtrex 1000mg 2x a day for 10 days & still had 2 more consecutive breakouts. I continued takin 500mg a day for a month then went off. I felt prodomes for another month after being off the Meds. I didn't get another outbreak until Nov. So I had 3 months no Meds & felt fine. My second outbreak was 2 bumps that were painful. Nothing like the first. I had a terrible headache & pain in my shoulder blade & a bit of soreness before the bump arrived. I took the prescribed Valtrex 500mg 2x a day for 3 days. The 2nd outbreak much MUCH milder but did last about 2 weeks. As soon as it cleared I got another bump in a different spot. Back again on Valtrex. Then went off again. Within 2 weeks my period came & I got a bump so small if I wasn't so in tuned to my body now I probably never would have noticed it ( I swear I think I can feel my hair grow now! I'm kidding but I notice ever little twinge or itch that I feel now thanks to HSV). Back on Valrex. (I take the generic Valtrex but not sure what the generic name of it is) as soon as that cleared I got 1 more bump in a different spot. So mine comes up as single bumps consecutively. Meaning 1 will clear & then I'll get a second. I'm finally cleared up & weaning off Valtrex taking it every other day. I still getild tingles in my leg here & there. I'm assuming my body is getting used to having the Virus plus being a woman in my early 40ies my hormones fluctuating. But in the beginning I lost weight, felt tired & sick ALL the time! The medicine made me sick at first but now doesn't seem to bother me. I think the first year it's a HUGE adjustment for our body as well as our mind! I love this forum! It's been a God sent for me to be able to read others expierance & advice. It took me 6 months to get the nerve up to post on here. Hang in there! Every outbreak I've gotten has been milder then the last. I'm sure you'll feel better as time goes on & your body adjusts! Our bodies are ALWAYS healing themselves & are miraculous at adjusting but we need to give ourselves time to heal. :-) Stay Strong! Remember 1 day at a time ;-)
  18. Take it 1 day at a time. It's overwhelming when you find out! I felt like it was almost too much to comprehend. Thank God for my best friend! She kept telling me "You'll be ok I promise!" I was just diagnosed in July. I still think about it everyday but it has gotten better. There's a wonderful book by Louise Hay called "You Can Heal Your Life" If Meds are making you sick there supplements that can help. I've been taking Lysine 1000mg a day, Kyolic Garlic & Immune support ( Garlic is anti viral), a good fish oil supplement, probiotic, Vitamin C & Zinc everyday. It's worth a try. I'm still taking Valtrex 500mg & slowly trying to come off of it. They say it takes the body about a year to settle into how to deal with the virus. When I first heard that I couldn't fathom a year of how to deal with HSV. It's been 6 & a half months in those 6 months I've taken 1 day at a time. I've educated myself greatly on a Virus I knew NOTHING about. I'm still learning a lot. Also in those 6 months my life has also went on. I've laughed a lot! Had great times with the people around me who matter! I actually think it's made me more appreciative to the ones I love because when your down there the ones who lift you up! It WILL get better!!!! :-)
  19. I just wish I had educated myself better about it. It amazes me how little people know. A friend of mine who is in her 30ies got it 12 years ago after having a fling. After I found out I had it I contracted HSV I confided in her. She acted like it was no big deal & said she didn't have it anymore...? I responded that it doesn't go away that the virus stays in your body. She replied, no it's gone.... Then over summer she was complaining she had cold sores in her mouth. It's like she didn't equate that her genital outbreak 12 years prior & also now having coldsores on her mouth were all HSV.... She doesn't inform partners being very flippant about it. I don't get it?? I read EVERYTHING I could get my hands on. How does someone get it & not want to know more?? I also work with a woman who had a small outbreak on her face under her lip. She didn't know what it was & was asking me what she should use on it. I assumed it was eczema or something at first because it didn't appear as HSV. Then a week later when I saw her I noticed she had a coldsore on her lip....didn't she realize it was HSV??? It's like we live in a bubble where there's no awareness of what HSV is?? My other question is how accurate are blood tests? They swabbed my actual sore & informed me it was type A but my blood test came back as IgG 1 0.5 Negative IgG 2. <0.2 Negative IgM. H 1.72 This was done in Sept My swab test done in July said simply: Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 Detected by Nucleic Acid Amplification Above that reads Test Herpes Simplex PCR B Result Positive Flag reference Range A Not Detected All my doctor said when she read that was "Oh it's Type 1, I've been seeing a lot of cases lately" I was honestly relieved for a minute having read HSV 1 genitally doesn't come back as often. Well I'm on my 3rd outbreak in 7 months :-/ My other question is about the blood test. I honestly have had in the past I'm almost positive the same 1 or 2 bumps usually around my monthly but just thought it was a pimple & caused from my period. Is it possible I had this already??? My outbreak in July felt like classic first outbreak with terrible headache, sick, lots of nerve pain & classic looking little patch of blisters. But these last two outbreaks that are milder then the one in July is somewhat similar to the bumps I've had in the past? I'm wondering how accurate are the blood tests & have I had it longer then July????
  20. My partner had not been tested yet but he assumes he doesn't have it. We've been together for years. We had a short period of time we were having problems & were not together. I was seeing someone for a short time whom had canker sores in the past. I honestly didn't know much about HSV & assumed since he didn't have any it wasn't anything to worry about. I never had sex with him but got it through Oral sex. I was shocked to say the least. I had it typed & it came back Type A. My blood test came back negative I'm assuming since it was a new exposure. Telling my partner was the worst part. But surprisingly were still together. It's definately been stressful & has added stress to our relationship. I have ALOT of guilt. I'm just hoping in time this will get better.
  21. I used my hand held High Frequency again this morning. The bump has diminished a lot still slightly there but the pain is pretty much gone. So far so good :-)
  22. I was thinking because massage helps with stress. I was also wondering since the virus lives in the lower region of the nerves in genital HSV I was wondering if it could bring on am outbreak. All of this is so new to me & I'm just trying to figure out what might help :-)
  23. I actually had Shingles years ago when I was in my 20ies & going through a lot of stress. I broke out with Shingles on the side of my body & it was painful. When I had my first HSV outbreak I thought all the nerve pain I was having & tingling felt just like Shingles. It was very similar. I'd get the Shingles Vaccine if it would help but I also don't want to do anything that might aggravate the HSV & cause more breakouts. I was hoping to hear if anyone on here had gotten the vaccine & had success.
  24. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has found a Chiropractor or Massage therapist has helped control breakout or has made them happen more often?
