  1. @fitgirl I remember seeing this scene from Eastbound and Down where they mention "Valtrex" and I really had no idea what it was for but I thought it was funny. I'm well aware now!
  2. @WCSDancer2010 Thanks for the info! Since my diagnosis in May of 2014, I've been having outbreaks about every 90 days or so. My doctor doesn't want me to be on daily medication at this point so I only take the antivirals when my penis gets angry. I'm sure if I took another blood test now, my IGG would be more than positive.
  3. @fitgirl Thanks for your message. I don't expect my ex to ever apologize. She's been living this lie for so long that there's no going back. Based on her past behavior, I know that she'll eventually end up in SLAA and will contact me when she reaches the 9th step. :) It's mind blowing that someone could be so heartless. Since our breakup, I've disclosed to every subsequent partner that I now have HSV2. I would never withhold that information from someone I'm sexually active with.
  4. Hi WCSDancer 2010 and whitedaisies, thank you for your responses and positive vibes. :) I have a follow up question. The week I had my primary outbreak, I had a blood test done and my IGG came back negative at 0.55. Two days prior to the blood test, I started taking antivirals to mitigate the outbreak. How significantly does the antiviral medication affect your IGG outcome? Thanks!
  5. Hi earthquake_grl, thanks for your comment. It's been infuriating for me to have my ex deny that she has herpes. My primary outbreak was so bad that my doctor told me to go to the emergency room because he thought I might have a bacterial infection in addition to HSV2. My dick looked like it was in a zombie movie...lesions, swelling and swollen lymph nodes. I didn't have health insurance when this happened and my medical bills came out to about $3500. I wanted to pinpoint how I got HSV2 because I was concerned about people I've slept with in the past. Fortunately for me, I'm on good terms with all of them and didn't feel awkward reaching out to let them know about my diagnosis. The insane thing is that I recently had a long conversation with the guy that my ex dated right after me. He had no idea that I was diagnosed with HSV2. He told me that they had been regularly having unprotected sex and there were times (aside from her period) that she didn't want to have sex and he couldn't understand why. One of the most foul things I learned from him was that on the day I received my diagnosis, she went on a trip with some "friends" and had sex with him for the first time. She broke up with me the next day when I told her I had herpes. I think my ex (who is utter trash) unknowingly infected me which I know is something that happens all the time. People just don't know they have it. All I'd like is an apology. At least have the decency to be accountable. We all have to deal with this shit for the rest of our lives now. The mental anguish is undoubtedly the worst part.
  6. I was diagnosed with HSV2 in May of 2014. My girlfriend (at the time) and I had been together since December of 2013 and were regularly having unprotected sex. I found a blister on the shaft of my penis which over the next few days developed into a pretty severe outbreak. I've never had any symptoms in the past. When I went to the doctor, he swabbed the lesions on my penis which is how he determined I had HSV2. When he called me with my diagnosis a few days later, he commented that this was my primary outbreak and that I had contracted the virus from my girlfriend. After the call, I went to have a blood test as suggested by my doctor. My blood test came back negative. When I told my girlfriend my diagnosis, she broke up with me immediately. The next day, she went to get tested but has REFUSED to show me a hard copy of her results. A few weeks later she told me via text that her doctor said she doesn't have HSV2. I did some detective work and spoke to anyone I had unprotected sex with over the past few years and none of the women have HSV2. Another component to the story is that the week prior to my outbreak, my girlfriend had flu-like symptoms and complained of pain in her groin and was tossing and turning in bed at night. I think it's fairly obvious that my ex girlfriend gave me HSV2 but she won't admit it. What are the chances I had the virus from before I dated the girl I suspect who infected me? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm miserable and would love to get this crap out of my body. :(
