Hi! Sorry to hear about this. From my experience when I under any amount stress I am more likely to have a herpes breakouts. So, I'll usually double up on my medication or make sure to take it. Valtrex is expensive. Ask your doctor to prescribe Valacyclovir. It's a generic form of Valtrex. Just yesterday I got 30 pills for $10 using a pharmacy discount card. Call around to different pharmacies in your area to find the lowest cost. Treating a Herpes Simplex outbreak topically will not help you in the long run only taking medication orally will relieve symptoms. I hope this information helps you. Xo
