Confused! help!

I was diagnosed with herpes 2, but not 1. Partner was diagnosed with 1, but not 2! Makes my head spin. We are both women. I have only been with her for the past 10 years. Her doctor suggested retesting her. We both took blood tests. I'm thinking I didn't get it from her, and it must have been dormant in me for years!
