Getting back on the horse ... how long to wait after herpes outbreak to have sex?

Ok. I am curious- this is my first outbreak - how long do I need to wait after it clears to resume sexual relations-- and subsequent outbreaks - it may be premature to think about such things but it is a question in my mind.

I would wait 3-5 days minimum after the last scab falls off ... if you find you get and OB after sex (some do, esp during the first year) I'd try waiting a bit longer. In the meantime, you can find other ways to "play". Herpes is a good excuse to get creative in the bedroom....

 

Just make sure you make each partner aware of your status... and given your lifestyle I would definitely go on the anti-virals and use condoms - you may want to try the FC2 female condom ... guys who are anti-condom are more likely to be ok with that ... ;)

I am def gonna try the female condom and all partners have been notified. But I did get the "it's ok we will be careful" response. I will be doing the daily suppression. I personally can deal

With the outbreaks but don't wanna pass it if I can help it.

 

My ob didn't ever scab per se. Just vanished. One day it was burning when I urinated. The next no pain the next gone. Kinda confusing but everyone is different I guess.

 

Waiting a week is not too bad. May go 2 just for safer measures!
