Hi, I've been very paranoid for the past few days concerning herpies. On Friday I had protected vaginal sex and did not have him rub against me unless I had my underwear on. He did not perform oral on me. Monday I woke up with a sore throat which later on that night turned into chills and a headache. It's now Wednesday and the only symptom remaining is my sore throat but it's feeling a lot better. I have no pain, burning, or itching down there but I have major anxiety when it comes to sex. It's been 5 days and I have examined myself and there are no sores, ulcers, blisters etc. I was just wondering if my cold/low grade flu sounds like a coincidence or should I be concerned? Thanks for all the answers/input.

From what you described, it would be very unlikely that you acquired herpes. Sounds like a coincidence to me. Any idea why you're having anxiety when it comes to sex?

3 months ago I was sexually assaulted and ever since then I overthink every sexual situation and think I've acquired an STI. Thanks did your reply! If you don't mind me asking what were your symptoms/timeline?

That makes sense. I'm sorry you had that experience and hope you've found a support group of loved ones and professionals to help you work through that.

To make a long story short, my symptoms were so mild I attributed them to yeast infections. I acquired herpes about 18-25 years before I was actually diagnosed with it. I have no idea who gave it to me and did not have a primary outbreak (at least that I recognized).
