Oral hsv1 after genital hsv1

I’ve had genital hsv1 for 8 years now. I never get outbreaks. Forget I even have it. My boyfriend gets cold sores. I kissed him a day or two before he had one show up and was wondering if I was at risk to get them orally after already having it genitally for so long. I have been feeling tightness is my neck, possibly swollen glands and was wondering if this could be from new infection.

I mean depending how you contracted hsv1 genitally–if it was oral sex there is a high possibility you also got it orally because I would assume you were kissing as well.

 

I got it all in the same go-it showed up genitally first then a few months later I got cold sores on my mouth. And I have not had an outbreak in a year with the exception of cold sores on my mouth.
