Went to the doctor for interpretation of IgG herpes test I took, is what he is saying correct?

So very recently I went to the doctor for two IgG herpes tests i took. 

One was in mid June about 4 months after a hook up I had....I took an std panel for everything including herpes and I came out negative for everything except hsv 2.....which was at a level of around 2.5........shocked....I took a second test two weeks later for hsv 1 and hsv 2 and my hsv1 levels were at 40 (which I am not suprised with tbh, I knew I had cold sores on my lips sometimes).........but i still had hsv 2 at about 2.3 this time. Lower than before. 

I go to the doctor to review these results yesterday but before that appointment I was looking up A LOT of info about herpes and other things associated with it. 

Anyway.

Me and my mom go to the doctor and find out that it was most likely a false positive. I naturally ask him why and he says that sometimes when someone has such high anti-body count or something like that for HSV 1......the HSV 2 test can cross sense HSV 1 antibodies and create a false positive....He says that as HSV 1 anti body levels rise, so does the rate for a false positive. He said unless you are above 5 for the HSV 2, you shouldn't worry since its most likely just cross sensing HSV 1 ABs.

I also asked him if I should take the western blot and he said......that most likely it would still cross sense even then as well but at a much lower scale.....But if anything he said, that most likely perhaps it would happen there as well. 

He said not to worry unless something pops up on the body. He said if that happens we should do a swab test of sorts called the PCR. To know for sure. 

I guess my question at this point is, is all of what he said correct? Can an HSV 2 IgG test cross sense HSV 1 anti bodies?
Also, would the same thing happen with a western blot test as well? 

I know western blot is supposed to be the golden standard, but he still said that it is possible. 

He seemed knowledgable compared to other doctors I've been to.......but I still feel like it would be right to ask....It would also be nice if I could talk to someone who actually knew their stuff and had a degree in this type of thing........but if not, its fine as well. 

Anyway. Please help.

Also I thought I would say that the possible exposure incident 4 months ago, turned out to be negative in both hsv 1 and hsv 2. According to tests she took soon after my testing in June.
