  1. My life is over. I'm freakin out.  I have little kids at home. I would hate myself even more if I give it to one of them. I've shut down completely.  Deleted all social media. Changedmy number gave up on school and quit my job. My dh took it well when I told but I don't believe he'll be here. He still wants to be with me and have kids but I'm pushing him away. I don't want to pass anything down to a innocent child. I have little kids that stay home with me. I'll hate myself even more if I give it to one of them. I'm thinking about ending my life

  2. Wait so you telling me your number was 40? On an ugh test?

So very recently I went to the doctor for two IgG herpes tests i took.

One was in mid June about 4 months after a hook up I had....I took an std panel for everything including herpes and I came out negative for everything except hsv 2.....which was at a level of around 2.5........shocked....I took a second test two weeks later for hsv 1 and hsv 2 and my hsv1 levels were at 40 (which I am not suprised with tbh, I knew I had cold sores on my lips sometimes).........but i still had hsv 2 at about 2.3 this time. Lower than before.

I go to the doctor to review these results yesterday but before that appointment I was looking up A LOT of info about herpes and other things associated with it.

    Anyway.

Me and my mom go to the doctor and find out that it was most likely a false positive. I naturally ask him why and he says that sometimes when someone has such high anti-body count or something like that for HSV 1......the HSV 2 test can cross sense HSV 1 antibodies and create a false positive....He says that as HSV 1 anti body levels rise, so does the rate for a false positive. He said unless you are above 5 for the HSV 2, you shouldn't worry since its most likely just cross sensing HSV 1 ABs.

I also asked him if I should take the western blot and he said......that most likely it would still cross sense even then as well but at a much lower scale.....But if anything he said, that most likely perhaps it would happen there as well.

He said not to worry unless something pops up on the body. He said if that happens we should do a swab test of sorts called the PCR. To know for sure.

I guess my question at this point is, is all of what he said correct? Can an HSV 2 IgG test cross sense HSV 1 anti bodies?
Also, would the same thing happen with a western blot test as well?

I know western blot is supposed to be the golden standard, but he still said that it is possible.

He seemed knowledgable compared to other doctors I've been to.......but I still feel like it would be right to ask....It would also be nice if I could talk to someone who actually knew their stuff and had a degree in this type of thing........but if not, its fine as well.

    Anyway. Please help.

  3. Positive blood test  51.80 but negative swab culture

    What does this means??j

    Hsv1 results were  51.80

I'm assuming this is a silent on. No pain no oozing no itching no burning. It a just there

    Hsv2 results

    Were in the negative range

  4. @JulyP I have and I'm getting different information. I was should I go get an 3 opinion/test I've went to two different drs each time with a so called outbreak *I'm assuming

Dr b: I went to after I had unprotected sex like 4/5 weeks after -  results came back negative blood work this happened in April

Dr a: I went to in August.. went with a so called outbreak * I'm assuming did bloodwork_ results came back positive for hsv1 But I wasn't prescribed any medication or information.  All this happened in August

    Dr b:

Went with the  same so called ob the same day i got my  results from Dr a. The results came back negative  both blood work and swab culture

I have type 1 and I have almost all of your symptoms. Pay attention if you have any other symptoms in addition to them. Also if you also feel tired as if you're having flu like symptoms. Mine are related to prodrome symptoms invariably.

What happens when you get a ob? If you don't mind telling me

Got a rash on my manhood, googled it, thought shit I think I have Herpes
then went to the STI clinic, where they checked me over & confirmed it  😞

I'm guessing it HSV-2 but they never told me that!

Did you ever get test? I'm a female I did the same. One Dr says yes and another says no Both time I went during a so called ob. I had swab and blood work done both times which should I believe?

@Ice2423 Do you have any symptoms? Did you also test via swab? I am asking this because I have yet to test positive via IGG blood and I have all the symptoms of HSV - hives at groin, nerve pain, flu symptoms and the list goes on!

If you are worried, I would get a western blot, which I am planning on doing soon since I had 3 negative IGG blood tests.

Did you ever get a swab? What were you results?

  8. It's crazy bc I'm assuming it's a outbreak.

Dr a said it was positive for hsv1

I gotten blood work during that time  I had a so called outbreak  dk  how old the sore was.

    Dr b said negative

I gotten blood work and swab culture

During that time I had a so called outbreak.  Both bloodwork and swab culture came back negative. Ugh

Dr b said once you test positive for herpes you'll always test POSITIVE  but I read up on some things so idk..

I'm still assuming that this a outbreak

But isn't hsv1 cold sores etc.

The bumps I have I spreaded and don't hurt nor scabbing there just there
