  1. Hi Jenn88, I was diagnosed with HSV2 over 5 years ago. It was really hard for me as well when I first started to get back into the dating game. I felt very dirty and unloveable when I was first diagnosed. You have a right to your emotions and how you feel currently. Honor yourself and be gentle. It can take time to learn to love and trust your body again. If you want to see the guy again, I would say go for it. But slow things down. Be present with yourself and how you feel in the moment. When you first tell someone, you are fighting the stigma and people's lack of sexual health education every time you tell someone. After I tell someone I always encourage them to do their own research. Let me know if you have any other questions. Here for you.
  2. I've been diagnosed for over 5 years with HSV 2. I don't want to scare you but it's more like blistering. (Think cold sores.) It can be painful to the touch or when you urinate. The blistering can happen anywhere on the vulva or around the areas. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm here to talk.
  3. Hi, I was diagnosed 5 years ago with HSV 2. I was having outbreaks off and on 2 months before I got officially diagnosed. It was localized around my vaginal area where my partner and I had been having sex. I didn't have an outbreak when I first went in to get tested. I assumed, like you, that herpes was included with all the STI testing. It was a shock when I went back in to the doctors (this time with an outbreak) and was visually diagnosed. So I feel you. Outbreaks can occur anywhere on the vulva. However, since you guys were doing anal it makes sense that it's localized to that area currently. I would suggest going in to get medication from your doctor. That will help with the pain and getting rid of the blistering. I always know when I'm about to get an outbreak with a "tingling" feeling on the back of my thighs and up my butt, if you start taking the medication, it can help prevent any painful blistering. Let me know if you have any other questions. You're not alone in this.
