@fitgirl thank you for your reply. He is currently negative for hsv 1 and 2. I found out today at my doctors appointment that I have genital hsv1 and I've read that generally speaking out breaks are less common on the genitals with that strand... however now I'm worried of passing hsv1 to my partner orally. I picked up my prescription of Valtrex today and will take it to help protect him as well as avoid sexual contact when symptoms are present. So can he perform oral sex now knowing it's hsv1 that I have or is that not an option anymore?

I would love to find people to talk to either in person or online. I'm a 28 year old female and was just diagnosed with ghsv 8/13/15. I would love to talk to anyone really, but would really love to meet other women in my area. I live about an hour and a half from downtown Chicago in Michigan near the stateline. I'm about 15 minutes from Noter Dame. Hope to hear from someone :)

Thank you so much for your input 2legit2quit! It's so nice having this community to come to for support and any questions I have. It's been really helpful with keeping me from freaking out. Herpes is really not a big deal like the stigma would have you believe.

I was just diagnosed this month with genital hsv and I regularly get Brazilian waxing done, however I haven't gotten one sense being diagnosed. I get sugaring done because it's less painful and causes even less irritation than wax. I'm nervous about it causing an outbreak though, but I'll have to try it and see. I'll update you all after I go some time in September. I wish you all and myself the best of luck!

I was diagnosed with genital HSV on August 13th 2015 after having my initial outbreak cultured. I have not had my follow up appointment yet, I go in September 1st for that. My doctor did say, when I come back, she wants to put me on suppression therapy everyday for the rest of my life! I'm not fond of medication and am worried of side effects. Can anyone with experience with this treatment recommend a brand? I know there are different drugs available, are some better than others? Also I'm unsure if I have genital hsv1 or 2, I should find that out on September 1st. I believe I've read that if someone has genital hsv2 that the chances of them passing it to their partner orally is slim to none. This may be tmi but my partner really enjoys going down on me. He wants to know if he can still do that when I'm not having an outbreak? Also my first outbreak took about two weeks to completely clear up but I haven't had another one yet. I do experience some itching and tingling and sometimes slight pain from time to time but nothing really bothersome. Any and all responses are greatly appreciated and welcomed!
