Suppression tablets not working? Please help.

Hi! It’s been a while...

I was diagnosed back in January with HSV-1 and I had a really rough time of it. Constant outbreaks and also facial coldsores which I’ve always suffered really bad with.

Finally in August after a lot of trauma and MH issues my GP gave me acyclovir x2 400mg a day and since then I have managed to let go of the fear and shame I was holding on too. No symptoms, no outbreaks, no coldsores!!! Wow it was amazing. 
 

But here I am.. writing to you currently with a coldsore on my face. I am currently taking penicillin for tonsillitis I am also very sore down below - I do believe this is thrush from the antibiotics (I hope)! I was told the antibiotics wouldn’t do anything to the acyclovir? 

my question is, are the tablets not working now? How have I got a coldsore when I am taking supression tablets? 

I’ve hit rock bottom again. I don’t think I can mentally go through it all again

Sorry to hear you're going through this. I would think you're immune system is low due to the antibiotics you're on. However, I'm on valacyclovir and still struggling with prodromes so I'm not sure. I'm trying to not focus on it too much to keep stress down.
