Still Down About Having Herpes

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed with herpes about two years ago. I have been trying to move forward with my diagnosis, but sometimes I still get the voice in my head telling me that I will never find someone that will accept me and my diagnosis. I just want advice on how to stop making myself feel down about it and move on with my life. I know it's all a process and I just want to be able to say I have herpes and not let it affect me the way that it has been for the past two years. Any advice and support would be great! I just started on this site today so I am excited about making new connections with other people that can relate to things that I am going through!

First: Welcome! So glad you found us.

One of the first parts of moving forward is to come to a place like this so you are not alone in your thoughts ... staying in the "herpes closet" just makes us feel isolated and feeds into our negative thoughts. So well done on taking the first step to reducing the grip that Herpes has on you.

Learning how to re-shape your thinking starts in the language you use. A great example of that is here: http://herpeslife.com/herpes-wordplay-the-power-of-words/

and in this recent discussion I started: http://herpeslife.com/herpes-forum/discussion/2211/change-your-words-change-your-world#Item_4

And watch for Adrials Home Study course to be published soon - it's sooo exciting and I know it's going to change a LOT of lives :)
